It is sad, but it's not surprising, He wasn't a healthy man, smoked a lot, overweight, etc.

I remember watching him in killing them softly and thinking to myself damn he looks unhealthy.

He was a good actor. Don't feel he was great. Still feel he was pretty one dimensional. I haven't seen everything he was in but everything I did his character was basically the same a tony soprano.

RIP James Gandolfini. I loved the Sopranos and used his PTSD documentary Wartorn: 1861-2010 to great effect while teaching.

being fat and in poor health will make you look older it seems. I was sad to hear about his death but I can honestly say, while I was shocked that I could see it happening.
