Of course if it is sold to a GS person, face to face sale won't be required. :p

That is a nice account, you have really put some love into it.

Yeah, I was gonna say... I've got an account, too! Do people actually buy warcraft accounts anymore?

Probably. But unless you're sitting on a black bug and Scarab Lord title or something equal you're not going to see more than 100 for it if you're selling to a reseller.

I see accounts going from 50-500 and I haven't seen a 500 with anything on it to make me say damn that's worth 500.

The problem is when you're trying to do it yourself you're going to go for a in person trade so you're market is small (local).

I have been perusing Craigslist and I think I can get at least 300. I am going to reduce it to 400 and see what happens. No bites at 550, I agree that is too high.

Wow my account really is awesome! If I ever started playing again it would take me years to get all of the crap I have now. Just riding around on my nether ray reminds me of the endless grind, looking for nether eggs, doing the same 11 quests over and over and fucking over. I have less than zero desire to play this game ever. Just logging in to move inventory around makes my brain bleed. Please, tell one more anal joke on trade, really, please. Or try to sell me gold so you can hack my account. Anyway, yeah.

300 is too high. There's just nothing on the account listed that's difficult to get or rare enough to be worth more than box price considering box price could be joined to a RAF and the characters banged out to 90 in no time.

1) Nether rays don't come from grinding the eggs.
2) You can grind all the eggs you need for your nether drake in a day
3) You can, and always could, grind the nether ray without doing a single quest....and it takes a day @ lvl 90.

The craigslists prices I've seen, I started looking after this thread, are just retarded.

Yes you are right, I have drakes as well. And I did both the rays and drakes back in the BC days. How do you grind nether rays without doing a quest? There is quest line to even open up the area. And also, I call bullshit on the eggs for the drakes in a day. You need 150 eggs. I have been looking and the lowest time I can find is 3 days, and that is pretty much solid grinding for the whole 3 days. Regardless, I agree that it is much easier than it was back in the day. Anyway I didn't say in my post that it would take X amount of time now, I was simply reminiscing on how long it took me to get them. I still do think I can get 300 for it, I might be wildly optimistic, but we shall see.

For Skyguard, you do a repeatable quest where you grind mobs for drops to summon bosses that grant rep. The Netherwing egg thing is entirely possible within a day, depending on how much willpower you have. There aren't too many people doing it anymore, so there's not a lot of competition besides CRZ shenanigans.

Yes the shadow scrolls which you turn in to shadow potions which summon the mini bosses. No way you could do that in a day, no possible way. And anyway there is a quest line to open that up, so you would still have to do quests. I also don't think it is physically possible to do the eggs in a day, with spawn rates. I could be wrong but I just don't see how. It's not how much willpower you have, it's how many eggs exist. Anyway, that is not the point, the point is that you can reasonably do them both in less than a week, so they are indeed not worth nearly as much as they were before. I never said they were, I was just reminiscing on getting them.

Both are possible and have been done.

You're about 6+ years too late to be selling an account for that much money.

I see tons of for sale accounts on craigslist but I have to wonder do they move?

I've seen some that are what I would consider about right for about 100-150.

Hell I don't even think my account is worth 300.

This is the big difference between WoW and GS (well there are many many differences but this is one). In WoW, it is always about the new, next thing. The next PvP set, the next dungeon titles, the next mounts and pets. New new new. In GS, we value old stuff, for the nostalgia, and also because in GS, item stats have not changed much from the beginning. In GS3, you could get by just fine with 4x stuff, and 4x was the standard. The same is true now. So a shaalk longsword is worth more than a vultite longsword only because it is old. Just listen to lnet, people reminisce all the time about the good old days, and who used to play and what items they had.

In WoW, achievements and items are devalued all the time as new stuff is rolled out. My Vial of Sands? Now that mounts are account wide, they are worth about a third of what they were when I first grinded it. All the old mounts and pets and titles, same thing. Hell even my Lorekeeper title, which took a month and a half of solid grinding is pretty much crap now, because you can look at your mini map and see the ! and ?, and there is a handy dandy quest cheat sheet built right in. I got my Reins of the Raven Lord back when you had to be a druid with swift flight form to get it. I got my nether rays and drakes the hard way. So yah, this account is probably not worth what it is worth to me. But I am still going to try to sell it for 300 :)

tl:dr version: GS rules, WoW sucks.

I think the issue is rarity. Old things in GS are rare hence they have value. The reason things in WoW become less valuable isn't necessarily because new things come out it's because more and more people get the items so they aren't as rare. Especially when you talking about a game that has millions of people all running around with the exact same stuff compared to a game that has a couple thousand players who do not have all the same stuff.

They drop off of mobs out there on Netherwing Ledge or whatever their floating rock is called. Do a pass around island/fortress for eggs, smash the mines, repeat.

Good point. I think it is a combination of both. Also, the fact that stuff is account or soul bound, so there is no market for it. If I had all of these mounts and pets and I could sell them, they would be worth a hell of a lot more than they are sitting on an account.

I got $140 for my account when I sold it back when cataclysm was about 4 months old. I had 3 85's, mage, priest, and a death knight. I had comparable mounts, if not a few better ones.

Get a quote from an account wholesaler, that's what I did and I went from there. Also keep in mind that you could get into MoP for $35 total if you owned none of the expansions not too long ago so that's going to hurt value as well.
