They've been in the treasure system for a long time. Just very, very rare even for the super cheap ones.

Believe silver and platinum tradebars also exist, but they are even rarer than the copper ones. You are more likely to find a 5x weapon than a tradebar IMHO.

I have actually found more Gm made box find than trade bars in my time playing.
