About 50% of the time, when i click on the lich icon to access the log-in screen, i get a message that says this...
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
When I click past it, i get the following Windows message...
Ruby interpreter (GUI) 1.8.6 [i386-mswin32] has stopped working.
I can keep running through this process and eventually it works properly. I had a friend ask me about it because she was experiencing the same problem. Anyone know what's wrong and what I can do to remedy the situation?
Thanks in advance.
http://lichproject.org/download.html - Ruby should be 1.8.7.
What version of windows would also be helpful for anyone trying to help, or search for solutions to the same problem. :)

My computer listed that I was running ruby version 1.8.6.
I upgraded it and lich to 4.4.9.
In answer to the question about OS. I am running Windows 7 home premium, service pack 1.
Thanks for the advice.

I have a char who for the last week has not been able to log in with Lich at all. This is the error message I get..
-- Lich v4.4.13 is active. Type ;help for usage info.
Please wait for connection to game server.

Ack, looked in Task Manager, Ruby Interpreter (GUI) 1.8.6 [i386-mswin-32]
Okay, what do I have to do to fix this? Other chars on that account do not have a problem... OS Windows Vista, woohoo...groan

When i've had the "software in the host machine" message, I've had to do the process of log in via play.net and move the character one room, then log back in through lich. It has always helped my problem, but yours may be different. If you've tried that, I would post a new thread detailing the above and let someone with more experience fix the problem. I'm no programmer but am very thankful for those who are.
One of the solutions that I've seen quoted a lot is to set SF to store everything locally. Have you already tried this?
