And with a new fix skills I want to do something I have never done in over 15 year of playing GS. Swing a 2HW!
Name: Airechtach MacMutrie Race: Dwarf Profession: Warrior (not shown)
Gender: Male Age: 55 Expr: 3513837 Level: 60
Normal (Bonus) ... Enhanced (Bonus)
Strength (STR): 100 (35) ... 105 (37)
Constitution (CON): 100 (40) ... 105 (42)
Dexterity (DEX): 86 (18) ... 86 (18)
Agility (AGI): 96 (18) ... 96 (18)
Discipline (DIS): 87 (28) ... 87 (28)
Aura (AUR): 83 (6) ... 83 (6)
Logic (LOG): 74 (17) ... 74 (17)
Intuition (INT): 80 (15) ... 80 (15)
Wisdom (WIS): 72 (11) ... 72 (11)
Influence (INF): 59 (-6) ... 59 (-6)
Mana: 0 Silver: 300
I have a nice mattock and some 7X MBP or 4X SWCP plate to wear.
What should my training look like? I am planning on hunting in EN so spellburst will be a factor. Anyone want to help a dwarf out?

(at level 54), your base skill bonuses, ranks and goals are:
Skill Name | Actual Actual
| Bonus Ranks Goals In-Game Time to Goal
Armor Use..........................| 250 150 150
Shield Use.........................| 120 30 30
Combat Maneuvers...................| 212 112 112
Two-Handed Weapons.................| 212 112 112
Ambush.............................| 140 40 40
Multi Opponent Combat..............| 156 56 56
Physical Fitness...................| 212 112 112
Dodging............................| 172 72 72
Magic Item Use.....................| 90 20 20
Perception.........................| 156 56 56
Climbing...........................| 150 50 50
Swimming...........................| 124 32 32
First Aid..........................| 40 8 8
Trading............................| 145 45 45
You'd want your training to look a lot like that I imagine. Hunting in the EN you could drop the swimming and a bit of climbing if you wanted unless you wanted to be able to run the short cut. You'll also likely want to drop the trading. The shield use is another thing you may want to drop, but it is cheap defense against shield bash and charge with the added bonus of leaving your combat maneuver points free.

They seriously made your defense against shield maneuvers check you shield use? Is that designed to be toward the shift for having tanking in GS?

Shield Use skill always played a small part in a performing and defending shield bash and shield charge cmans.
But the main factors are knowing ranks in the actual manuevers and CM skill. What Jeril means though is sinking the shield specialization points you get from learning shield use ranks into learning the manuevers for defensive purposes as a two handed weapon user.
This will help defense against them mostly from the ranks learned and a tiny bit from the TP ranks as well as freeing up any CMAN pts you may have spent on the same from that other pool.

Basically this, for the cost of 60 PTPs you can get five ranks shield bash which is great defense against it. One of the first things I did when the new shield system came out was test this with Roblar. I've found it handy to have, bandits use shield bash/charge as do crusaders in the rift and radicals on the second floor of nelemar. I am not in GoS but some of the grimswarm use it to, so it would be handy there as well.

That was an awesome change for two[handed|weapon] users imo. Super cheap redux skill for free defense against a very commonly used maneuever without wasting actual CM points? Yes plz.

That's an awesome bang for the buck, redux+specialized defense.
