Now that PS4 is coming I've been thinking about the entirety of the PS3 generation. What were the hits? What was remarkable? What were the flops?
Overall I've been very happy with the PS3. Quality games, decent performance, blu-ray playback, and no fees to play on line. Where I think they dropped the ball is making it a seamless media station for everything from TV to basic web browsing.
The top games:
Fallout 3
Skyrim
Call of Duty World at War
Bethesda takes the award for best developer. EA I think would be second. Those three games could keep you busy for a good long time.
The flops:
Playstation Home was a neat idea but turned into just another chat room. The photo, music, and video services were nice but did not follow through with useability. Streaming TV, games and movies works very well and I still use that aspect. It would have been nice for the PS3 to be more browser/internet friendly.
A brief outline of my thoughts on the life of the PS3 as we look forward to the PS4.
I picked up Ni No Kuni as my final title before PS4.
