From their FB:
YOU DONT KNOW US!! WE WILL THRIVE! WE WILL OVERCOME! WE ARE STARTING OUR FAMILY, AND WE WILL TEACH OUR CHILD EXACTLY WHAT >>GOD<< WANTS IN THEIR PATH. WE WILL TEACH THEM HOW TO FIGHT AGAINST OPRESSORS LIKE YOU PEOPLE! WE WILL START A GENERATION OF TRUTHFULLNESS AND WE WILL FIGHT TO BRING PLACES LIKE, YELP AND REDDIT, AND HORRIBLE PEOPLE LIKE GORDON TO THE LIGHT
First comment I saw on the FB from someone: "Please don't breed"
They have a lot more rants, but I don't feel like copy and pasting them all to here.

The owner's reply to a crappy online review in 2010 is also worth a read (blogs.phoenixnewtimes.com/bella/2010/08/ouch_todays_hard_lesson_on_yel.php).
Dear Joel,L. It is blatantly obvious to me why you were ALONE on a Saturday night!
Read any of the reviews that have been written about us and you will see that EVERYONE loves us!! The only people that don't is our "Competition". We knew you had been sent by another restaurant before you even ordered your $14.00 Pizza.
The Pizza was fresh and amazing. The reason the tomatoes had different texture was because I use three different heirloom tomatoes and some of them are sundried. So of course they are going to have a different texture from the fresh ones!!!
But perhaps you are only accustomed to tasting the ones that come "fresh from the can!"
Moving on to the "Store bought Dough" Comment. PLEASE!! My dough is made fresh every day from 100% organic ingredients. Perhaps your palate is not sophisticated enough to tell the difference.
As for you having the Patio all to yourself unless you have been living on another PLANET it is summertime in ARIZONA MORON!!! Only TRAMPS and LOSERS want to sit outside in 110 temperatures!!!!

"This is Samy. I am keeping note of all names here. We will be pursuing action against you legaly, and against reddit and yelp, for this plot you have come together on. you are all just punks."

Obviously our Facebook, YELP, Twitter and Website have been hacked. We are working with the local authorities as well as the FBI computer crimes unit to ensure this does not happen again. We did not post those horrible things. Thank You Amy &Samy
It's the new excuse (whether it's true or not)!
We were hacked!

I thought it was funny when he said to call the cops on the guys who didn't pay for the pizza they hadn't received yet. (After waiting 90 minutes.)
Samy even pushed the guy, the guy should sue.

They must be new to the internet if they think the local police or the FBI have any power to ensure this doesn't happen again.

Man I wish I lived near this place, I would totally go there and order something then tell them I didn't like it so I could be yelled at for not knowing what I wanted to eat. Or have it take over one hour to cook my food then the owner threatens me with physical violence if I don't pay for the food I never got. Either that or find out this is all an act.

This has lit up their Facebook. People are still posting constantly on there. There is also an online petition that got 800 names in a couple days trying to draw attention to the illegal activity of them taking servers tips.
The sad thing is, it is a beautiful looking restaurant, just with two people who have no idea to run a restaurant.
Gah those people have entitlement issues.

Other Side of Amy’s Baking Company Controversy in Scottsdale To Soon Be Told
SCOTTSDALE, AZ. MAY 15, 2013 -- Amy’s Baking Company will host a Grand Re-Opening on Tuesday night, May 21, following unflattering portrayals on national television.
Customers will be able to decide who is correct: a famous celebrity chef or the marketplace that has supported the small, locally-owned business for six years.
When re-opened, a portion of proceeds will benefit a charity organized to bring awareness to cyber bullying.
Seating is limited. Reservations may be made by emailing sjones@rosemoserallynpr.com.
Diners will also have the opportunity to meet, and judge for themselves the character of owners Amy and Samy Bouzaglo, who have devoted their lives to and earn their living from their small restaurant. The Bouzaglos have been married for 10 years, after Sammy emigrated from Israel.
The owners will likely be holding a press conference before the Grand Re-Opening and answer falsehoods depicted on a reality television show, including assertions that the restaurant confiscates tips from servers.
In fact, wait staff is paid $8-$14 per hour, two and half to nearly five times the standard hourly wage for servers.
Questions will also be answered about what happened to their Facebook page.
Amy’s Baking Company was recently featured on the hit PBS show “Check Please” and has received A+ reports from CBS 5 for kitchen preparedness.
“We are very upset by what has taken place, apologize about the acrimony that has ensued but now must fight back to save our business. We hope and believe much good can result from what has transpired. We ask the public to keep an open mind as we begin to tell our side of the story,” Samy Bouzaglo said.
For more details, please contact Michael Saucier.

Well isn't that (supposedly) nice of them? They take all of their tips and use the tip money to pay them minimum wage.
Wow, I never realized wages could be so low in the US. In Canada I think the lowest min wage is around 8.75 or so. I know last time I worked for min wage was about 18 years ago and it was 6.75 then.
Tsk Tsk
05-17-2013, 02:02 AM
Well, what happens is this: You make the $2-3 an hour plus tips, if by the end of your pay period, the average amounts to lower than the state minimum wage, then the restaurant has to make up for it by paying you the minimum wage.
Gelston

It really shouldn't be a minimum wage job.

Not exactly sure how this is a response to what I wrote.. I was just breaking down how it works.
Last restaurant I managed, Employees tips were pooled and split up among the servers, hosts and bussers. The cooks were owners so they didn't partake in it. The staff also got paid slightly more then min wage besides the tips. Tips would range anywhere from $20 to $200 or so per night. It wasn't a big restaurant, but I felt this was one of the fairest ways to distribute the tips.

Everywhere I worked, servers kept tips and tipped out bus boys and bartenders at the end of the night. Everyone had a rough idea of how much everyone else made in tips, so they knew how much to expect. You screw the others over consistently and they dont help you do your job. Pretty simple

Is that per person or total? Just how small was this restaurant?
Was per person, total staff was around 15, typical shift had 6-8. Definitely wasn't big. Only had seating for 30 or so.
I mostly was in charge of the bookkeeping, supplies and scheduling. Slowest nights were Sundays, The restaurant would make the majority of its income off of Fridays/Saturdays.
Sundays were mostly loss or break even days.

They're claiming that this is false now, despite the fact that they admitted it in the middle of the TV show?
What these dickheads either don't realize or refuse to acknowledge is that if customers were aware that the tips they left went to the owners and not the servers, they wouldn't be leaving tips at all. I sure as fuck wouldn't.
I've never watched any reality show before where I genuinely wanted to severely beat the people on it until these two.

What's funny to me about this is that there's this dude around here I used to work with that is literally the musical equivalent of this chick.
He's been in some shitty band for 10+ years that's gone nowhere and is centered around this rebellion/the south will rise gimmick that everything thinks is stupid, he screws people and other bands out of money any way he can, his music is complete dog shit, he thinks he's god's gift to music and the second coming of Sebastian Bach (he's still stuck in the 80s), he's in complete denial of all of it, and whenever someone either doesn't like his shitty music or calls him out on something, he gets all butthurt and reacts exactly like this Amy chick does, right down to the "You're all just haters!" line.
I showed this clip to a friend of mine the other day and the first thing he said was, "This is <asshole shitty musician's name> if he owned a restaurant instead of being a shitty musician."

Wait, hold up: They schedule a re-opening... when they have no staff to do so? And they expect to train and manage 30 new people in only a couple of days.
Oh, this just keeps getting better and better. Something is gonna go horribly wrong, and I bet by the end of the week, both of them will be behind bars.
The rest of them did too.
I have a cousin that lives in Scottsdale and she said this place is like 10 minutes away. I'm trying desperately to get her to go to this place and record some meltdowns. She's scared they're going to kill her.
