Sorry. The only way to get rid of handles is by doing a lot of cardio. Biking works great.
I have wheelchair upper body strength!!
..and that is about it. Running would require that I use these strange stubs that have been mysteriously attached to my body.
Bah, no beating around the bush with this one eh?
Seriously: cadio, situps, crunches, walking and then slowly work yourself up to running.

Like they said lots of crunches especially. Best ones for the sides is to lay on your back, do the normal ones, then do the crunches towards your opposite leg twisting your body. That will use those muscles along your rib cage and downward.
But also take Darks's advice....lotsa grinding....if nothing else, you will be happy as hell!

I would drink alot of beer until said lovehandles out done by the beer gut. It's alot more fun then doing crunchs and running.

I just joined the YMCA a couple of months ago. They gave us a great deal at work where we can sign up 6 employees as a family. $125 fee + $71 per month which turns out to be $11.83 per month for me.
Basketball, weights, cardio, racketball, pool.... nice place to work out after work.

Cardio won't do much for your love handles. They are one of the spots on the body that will still be fat even after you drop 50 pounds, unless you target them specifically. Crunches are good, but you need to target the obliques especially. Try crunches with your knees to one side or the other. My favorite oblique exercise are throw downs, but they require a partner. Lie on your back, hands palm downward right by your ass, legs together, and lift your legs straight up from your waist. Have your partner thrown them back down again, and stop them right before they hit the ground. Do this by alternating one set straight up and down, one set to the left, one set to the right, and one set mixed between straight, left, and right. You WILL feel a very bad burn with this exerceise. That's weakness leaving your frail, woman like body.

This is going to be an odd suggestion but really try to avoid corn syrup (especially high fructose corn syrup). It's in basically all processed foods so try to eat things that you make yourself and pure foods.

Situps and crunches don't do it. Here's something to think about; You're logic says that to lose lovehandles you need to work out that area, the body doesn't work like that. The area you work out will get strong but it will not get leaner. Your body does not remove fat from one area because it's getting work, it takes energy from the easiest places not from the places that are moving.
Run, run run and run. And guess what sometimes you'll just always have them, not everyone is blessed with the ability to have perfect abs. I get a wicked 4 pack but the bottom two never show they are just one flat piece of muscle.
Lift weights, no point in losing fat if there is nothing underneath to look at. If you drop to 120 pounds of skeleton you look worse than when you had love handles.
When you lose you'll still have love handles unless you tighten that area, even if the fat is gone the skin will still be flabby. Trunk twisters, medicine ball work, anything that works the obliques is a good way to tighten up the sides.
Change your workout and change it often. Your body learns and can do repition without gaining as much from the same workout. By changing it up and "shocking" the body you keep seeing gains at the optimal lvl.
Don't start big, work small and build up. If you start big you will get discouraged and quit. Work your way up to the big workout and keep doing it. It's been said that it takes 2 weeks of doing something before it becomes a habit. I'm a believer in this, if you workout 3days a week for 2 weeks the next few weeks will be easier for you to hit the gym and the next month it will be such a habit you won't think about it. Once you take that break though..... it starts all over.
Diet, eh. I'm not big on that one. I'd rather eat what I like and just push myself harder. If you're trying to get ripped nasty then you have to be strict on the diet as well. If you're trying to just lose a few then cut back alittle and do 10 more minutes of strong cardio.
You want to get cut up? Don't listen to me. I just want to be able to bench press a draft horse and squat the beer cart it's pulling. Getting ripped is a far second for me I'm going for power and bulk.

Love handles are pretty wierd, i had them when i was really active in high school, but in the last 2 years, they dissappeared, maybe it WAS the beer gut

Negative. After a long time spent burning more calories than he takes in, Stanley's body fat will drop to around 10%, and he will have no love handles. Kthx.

From my own personal experiences, what Anticor said. I did real well when I was running 3 miles every day. I miss those days :(
Once you start toning that area, it's going to firm up but still be the same size usually (if that makes any sense) That's why a lot of fitness instructors and the like usually tell people to do cardio to burn the weight first, then once they've reached their desired weight, start with the firming and toning exercises.
I think I pulled something.
in addition, I work out every day, but every blue moon if I decide to do the abdominals, it fucks up the amount of push-ups I can do by a lump sum :?:

Negative. I had the same love handles when I went from 170 to 140 during boot camp. The fat was gone but the love handles where still there until I tighted the muscles. And that was at about 7%. Kthx.

Agreed. In a perfect world, you'd do cardio, target your obliques, and diet...but we know Stanley won't do that. Just target the obliques and build some muscle underneath the fat.

Everything Anticor said is correct.
For guys, the hardest place to mobilize fat is the love handles area. For girls, it's their thighs and butt.
You CANNOT spot train away fat. It is important to build up your muscles in these areas though.
When you do your cardio, do it first thing in the morning. Do not eat before, and don't eat for a half hour after. You will mobilize a lot more fat this way.
When you sleep, your blood sugar gets depleted, so the morning exercise will allow you to mobilize the most fat.
If you can, interval train. This means that if you ride a bike for 20 minutes, try to have three or four times where you bike like a bear is chasing you, and then slow down for a minute... then raise the intensity again, and then back down. I hate cardio, and I don't do it, but this will shorten it up a bit. Don't be one of those schmucks reading time magazine while pedaling at 10K an hour.
If you are looking for suppliments to help, caffine and aspirin (sp?) might help. I think effedra is illegal now...? I'm not sure. I never took any of these, because my metabolism is fast enough that I can control it through diet.

Also, cut the red dye out of your hair.

Not only is it banned, but I think it's even illegal to possess. I was reading the paper a few weeks ago and saw an "Ephedra bust" that took place near Philly.

Yeah, I thought it was a joke at first, too. I'm not sure if it's illegal to use, but it's definitely illegal to make, buy or sell. 150 some-odd deaths in a dozen years and people are flipping out. I believe a Senator's son died and they "tied the death to the use of ephedra", which I'm sure is part of the reason it got pushed through the legislation process.
Answer me this. Cigarettes and other nicotine products kill that many people in TWO HOURS, yet are they banned? Damn, aspirin probably kills that many people a year. I guess big business (pharmaceuticals, cigarette companies, etc.) really have bought their place in society.

Most of the Ephedra incidents I recall seemed to involve the person abusing it. Like, whatever pills they'd take, they'd exceed the directions on the bottle. They'd not eat, they'd not drink water, they'd take like 6 pills when it says as clear as day "DO NOT EXCEED 3 TABLETS A DAY." Uh, hello?

Not a dietician here, but how much of a role does not having a miniscule snack right before I pass out play into getting rid of these things?
Also, i'm always doing the excercise before I eat in the morning, I've tried combining a few of our new 21st century energy drink along with that, but it makes me HELLUH dizzy..
