Attention House Paupers members!

It has come to the attention of the CHE Controller that new leadership is needed for House Paupers. Previous Officers have been unable to meet base requirements, as explained in the CHE documentation. In order to continue as a CHE, a minimum of four Officers need to be elected: two members with chairman powers, one member with treasurer powers, and one member with secretary powers. This process must happen, in full, by June 15th. Those interested will please forward your candidacy for the position you'd like to GS4-CHE@PLAY.NET, along with a few paragraphs about why you would be suited for the Officer position applied for, how you would help Paupers remain active in the community, and what the community in GemStone means to you.

If said Officers are supplied and deemed appropriate, they will be invested and held to the minimum Officer requirements of all the Great Houses. Interested players may also review the Officer's Manual for the most updated guidelines by going to https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5uOpM4VPo2GME91RXY3ZTd5bWs/edit?usp=sharing with further information at http://www.play.net/gs4/info/greathouses/home.asp

If said Officers are not supplied by that date, House Paupers will lose its charter and be dissolved as a CHE. Those members of House Paupers will have their lockers moved automatically to the general locker annexes of their towns, and will have the ability to join any other CHE immediately, should they wish.

Anyone know what happened to the last of the officers?

I'm assuming they quit, like most people. I still maintain the population is still declining, just we're at a point where most of the people left keep adding more accounts to run at the same time so the WHOs remain about the same. :D

Dissolving paupers would be ridiculous. Add an NPC that lets non-members join at the gate, not to trample on what actual history the house might have but that would pretty much make it self-sustaining.

^ This.

Dissolving Paupers would be gay as hell. Houses are barely more than bigger lockers anyway.

I'm pretty sure it won't be dissolved. I guarantee there are plenty of people that will go after the positions.

I always love when people try to get me to join their house.

"Join my house!"
"Why?"
"BIGGER LOCKERS!"

I stepped up to apply for a chairman or treasurer position of the house...

I'd urge others to do the same. Especially if you want to be blessed with the ability to work with me.

I'm running for chairman on a simple platform: bows, bows, bows...
I want to have a massive party on a ship, with fancy hair pieces, dedicated towards archery.
Except.. Not really.

I spoke with Scrimge directly last night... My goals include maintaining the status quo as far as Paupers events go, and trying to enhance the non-Wehnimer's footprint of the house. Currently, most houses reside just in Wehnimer's Landing. Where do people reside? Teras and Ta'Illistim! While we have the lost home for lockers in Ta'Illistim, and probably some equivalent in Teras, I see no reason why these dedicated house areas can't be further enhanced to have a keg set up, to have an attached hot tub, minibar, ball pit, and bouncy room.

From the officials:

Thanks for taking an interest in Paupers.

I was notified of the situation when everyone else was so am heartened to see someone stepping up. As of 5/4 I made arrangements to invest at least one new officer so the position of Chairman may not be available. However, there are a minimum of 4 officers needed to save the Charter.

With luck and work this amazing House will continue despite the unprecedented actions underlying the current circumstances.

I deeply regret that noone stepped up a month ago (or the many months prior) when the information regarding Officer openings and the acceptance of applications was announced.

Respectfully, things at Paupers are already in ship shape and the 4th Annual Spring Fling as well as the Illistim annex are set to proceed as scheduled.

Good for you Whirlin, seriously, I think you could have a lot of fun with it. If you don't get intimidated by the rules there are a lot of opportunities that the average player doesn't get.

I ROFL'd when he mentioned your bow.

^ agreed. Being a house officer is a lot of fun, and the rules aren't that onerous, really. Keeping good records helps, and being prepared with alternatives in case your first choice gets turned down is a good strategy as well. Feel free to add my name to the list of contacts if you have questions or anything, and keep an eye out for the next Officer's Mixer, which I believe Brigatta is hosting.

The thing I'm concerned most with at this point is that it can't and won't be just me... but I'm going to need a team of support to help me think up ideas, etc....

I'm just hoping others are apply as well, and would invite most of the PC people to apply if interested.

I've heard similar complaints against some of the former officers. I was a Knight of Paupers for a few (is that still going?) but when it changed gears to being a "Let's spell people up" gig, I quit. Joined Sylvanfair not long after.

Sadly, guidelines require 4 events a month in which "the officer is available for questions and supports the general population" or something to that extent. So if you miss an induction night due to life, you end up needing something akin to chilling at a table, spelling up nublicits. But yeah, no reason you should have been roped into that if you weren't a officer.

Hopefully arranging something like a capped hunt with Paupers would be a good alternative to just sitting idly by... although that may be exclusionary.

I don't believe those are CHE requirements. Don't like them? Change the bylaws. Basically I think if you have the minimum number of officers and meet once a month you're probably OK. I'm sure there's a bit more, but I don't think you need to do 4 things a month.

CHE Requirement: "Officers must make their presence known on at least four occasions during each month in such a manner that applicants may seek them out for questions or other business..."

You're right, that's not EXACTLY what it says...

That is part of the CHE requirements for officers, but it can be a lot of things like public meetings, hunts, spellups, etc.

I think if you have officers that meet the requirement for number of hours in-game each month, you'll be fine. Just have them rub an amulet and say hello four times a month between the 4 of them.

Think big. Hold this event 4 times a month and Paupers will rule Elanthia.

What?

I was sorta an officer for a little while. I was asked by a friend to become an officer to help fulfill requirements, I told Kyns at the time that I really didn't have the time to help with the house, and he said that's fine I just need bodies. Shit happens though I guess.

Last I heard, he was trying to get Traiva(sp?) reinvested as an officer, and chairman/person, but last I saw before Scrimge removed me was that it wasn't successful. (On a side note, she was an officer that was removed to add me, so make of that what you will)

I think I was a treasurer, but I don't even remember. Like I said, I was just a place holder.

Pretty much the same for me. Japh was a knight of paupers and it was fun, for a while, until dealing with kynseiyn got to be too big a pain in the ass. Once he/she was an officer I left to more pleasant pastures.

Dammit Androidpk...

I panicked when I thought that I missed that event after Whirlin added it to his signature.

But I should have known he wouldn't hold such an event....

"Drinks and snacks provided"?

He doesn't even have an oven to make cakes.

there's been many people who have stepped up to offer their services as an officer.
Like Whirlin, I've stepped up as well. It's not entirely a crap-ton of work, but its not something that just needs a body.

I'm not interested in being an officer at this time but I was/am planning to be an active member of Paupers and am certainly willing to help out with ideas, events, etc once we have a leadership team in place.

Scrimge's announcement has become official.

I have assumed the role as the Warden of House Paupers. I spent a few hours with Scrimge on Monday discussing the other applicants, and positions they would be best suited for. I made a decision with Scrimge not to further tier the roles and authorities within the chairmen and treasurers functions. In the event that someone becomes incapacitated, or goes missing, I want to have adequate executive coverage to ensure that similar events never befall the house.

I have assigned a great team to work with. I'll introduce them a little bit here.
Thondalar, you all know. He's active on PC and Lnet, always offering to assist when needed. He will be in the Bartender (Chairman) roll. PC Account Thondalar
Traiva is a social RP butterfly. She's incredibly active in the MHO and CHE scene, and always attending events that are put on by their houses. She's already incredibly familiar with the process, and will bring a vast depth of knowledge into Simu processes and procedures to maximize the success of our events. Traiva will also be in a Chairman role, but we switched out the title from Dame to Chan... something... PC Account Asile

Riros will be fulfilling the roll of Enforcer. The lucky SOB got one of the best titles. Regardless, Riros and I go WAY back. I think we've been IRL friends for about 8 years now. We've went through WOW, Age of Conan, Tera, and a handful of other MMOs together before I corrupted his soul into Gemstone. He's works in accounting IRL, so I figured putting him on the finance side would be a great way to leverage his skills (clearly taxes and having bank access is the same thing!). He helped me lead a bunch of stuff back in WOW, and we work great together, definitely glad to have him here. PC Account Riros
Tolwynn will also be in a treasurer position, but with the title of Paymaster. Traiva and Tolwynn have been friends outside of Gemstone for years, and have brought their characters together in the social scenes. Tolwynn has always worked with Traiva in managing house events, is incredibly familiar with the key players and process, and definitely brings a lot of expertise to the scene. PC Account Tolwynn

Niamhe is our new chronicler. I never really knew much about her beyond seeing her posting in the auctions folder here on PC. I relied on Scrimge's input on the application and the interview, and I can already tell it was a good decision. We spoke briefly over lnet, and Niamhe definitely seems like a wonderful asset to the team.

Currently, we're still establishing a proper infrastructure on the backend to manage multiple projects and requests from other houses. Traiva's ties with the old Paupers Leadership will allow us to eventually obtain the old HouseofPaupers gmail account, and access to an old google group that was used for such projects in the past. Traiva and Tolwynn have been sharing their experiences and explaining GM policies and procedures beyond the CHE Manual.

Rest assured, inductions will be occurring soon! I have grand plans for the inductions and scheduling. We're working through the old bi-laws, putting together ceremonies, and making sure our efforts are consistent to ensure that new members have an induction ceremony that really reflects what the house is all about.

As Scrimge said, once the dust settles, you'll be hearing more out of us.
