In an incident that is still not entirely understood by various local officials, a priest of Andelas visited Icemule Trace today and transformed the nature of spiritual magic. Apparently, the priest had been tracking a pregnant snow tiger for some time, and, when the tiger's presence attracted hostile attention from ice giants, he sought assistance from various adventurers. The priest convinced several locals to undergo some sort of peculiar sacrificial rite. Afterward, he experienced an intense insight related to spiritual magic. Calling upon this insight, he forced spirits of the snow to swirl around the ice giants, which confused them and prevented them from attacking properly or resisting his own attacks. He hid the tiger, presumably to give birth in safety, and then he returned to the temple to announce the success of his efforts. In a miracle of uncertain origin, the knowledge of his insight was transferred to all users of major spiritual spells.

Clerics and empaths throughout Elanthia are experimenting with their new ability. The residents of Icemule are rather worried about the whole affair, as none of them wish to trifle with full-grown snow tigers, but it will be at least a year before the cubs grow old enough to become a real concern. Those who assisted the priest seem to be recovering well enough, although they may be a bit shaken.

Mass Interference (217) has been released! This spell will act like the Major Spirit spell Interference (212) save that it will affect all within range rather than affecting only a single opponent. While this spell is not player-friendly, you can avoid hitting people with it by including them in your group before you cast. Thanks go to Uliq for this new addition to the Major Spirit list!

Mass Frenzy and then send a fire spirit at someone in a group.

Also, this new spell - while most likely useless - will be nice in annoying people.

Great...

Do the GMs just NOT play the game anymore? Why would they make this spell affect player characters?? I don't see the logic in releasing another area effecting spell like this.

Uses: To annoy people resting in places like the Park, TC or Dais.

When interference gets cast on me where I hunt it's -45 to AS and around - 25 to DS.

Duration: (MjS spell ranks/5 + 10 + (warding failure*3)) ; capped at 120 seconds

Type: Attack

The caster of this spell is able to use the spiritual forces to exert influence over the Lesser Spirits in the immediate area to interfere with the actions of the target person or creature. This interference results in
diminished combat abilities. Due to the refocused energies of the spell, the target's initial warding defense of the spell is lower than normal warding for spirit spells.

If a target fails its warding, it will now suffer a higher penalty to its offensive prowess as well as a penalty on its ability to defend certain types of attacks. The penalty to the Attack Strength (AS) is twice of the penalty to the Defense Strength (DS). In conjunction with those penalties, on applicable targets, spell casting will be hindered somewhat depending on the casters knowledge of the Major Spirit circle.


I hope the not being able to cast thing is still in the mass spell. Doubt it though.

It's not exactly that you can't cast. I think it's some sort of hidden roll you have to pass before your spell is successful. I didn't have a problem casting 401 after getting that cast on me usually, but sometimes would get the message The spirits swirling around you are too distracting to cast that spell.

No, if the spell Corrupt Essence lands, regardless of any endroll, you will not be able to cast spells for 15 seconds. If you do attempt to cast you will get an error message and lose the mana for the spell. You can, however, prepare a spell.
