AFK Tavern - WA State

So I thought I would jump over here to a new thread about the AFK Tavern in Everett, WA for us PNW folks.

This is a pretty cool bar/restaurant that has fun nerdy events all the time. I figured I would throw this general information out there for anyone interested who might be visiting the city and/or want to do informal meet-ups with other GSers and gamers. Just one super cool event they are planning: this Saturday night is a May the 4th Be With You party! So, yeah, for those of you local enough to get there if you can make a gathering date.

Speaking of which, we are still planning the 'formal' gathering at AFK Tavern on Saturday May 18th at 7 pm. Be thurrr.

LoL, well my better-able-to-understand-time-half tells me that, in fact, the Aspis event will be before we can actually leave PDX, so I don't have to bring my laptop after all. It's one of the Roar into Bardfest events, 30-Minute Thespians. It's my favorite one to run.

Sorry, I am not pulling out any viking wear for this go-round and am wearing the dress I promised Ryvicke and Dosselmeyer that I would wear (unless it's pouring rain and cold, then FTS, fleece all the way). Also, I am bringing my cell phone so I can FaceTime with Ryvicke and teh NY Crew. Fuck laptops.

The whole night was quite fun, cool place and cool people. HAI5 GUYS?!

Yes, we all survived the night, 6 hours to be precise! Fun was had by all as we did racist things to the Thief in Settlers, raged about OTF, drank reasonable/copious amounts of mead, and no one was molested...much! The closest moment of violence happened at the start of the night when the boys tried to swipe my parking spot. Not okay!

AFK Tavern turned out to be very cool and we even made off with Cthulhu amulets (of +5 Aura!) from the redheaded waitress.

The first was Ryku's 'good one' but I agree, not so flattering, the second was from my roll where the guy was having DTs so everything was blurry, so I just tried to spice them up with some digital retouching (i.e. - the space green). ATTENDEES can PM me for the raw bad photos if they want and then you could doctor out lumps as necessary.

Apparently between deceptive hand positioning, devil eyes, and stomach rolls, our photos fail. Fortunately, the evening did not! Next time I will arrange for professional photography and makeup artists to ensure we all look our very best. :) I would also feel compelled to bring our own not-ravaged and fully intact extended version of Settlers if we are going to do that, as well as a sand-timer so that Ryku and Nathan cannot bogart the game for hours on end as they plot world domination.

AFK E&E (https://www.facebook.com/AFKEandE) opened up over a month ago and we have yet to christen it. I hear it's frigging huge and amazing and awesome and all that stuff, so I need to go and I need mah nerd friends to do it with.

Went! Checked it out. My personal opinion is, not as cool as the original AFK. It's definitely more upscale, though, if you like that sort of thing. The building used to be a Keg and to me it feels like, well, like a Keg with better lightning.

I am going back out there tonight to take a friend that's coming down from Bellingham. We will probably play board games, but doubtful it'll be Settlers.

Never played it, but chances are it is on the list of available games to check out there. They have over 200 card and board games for check out, plus several console gaming areas, including a giant screen gaming area for tourneys. Last night it was Super Smash Brothers, but normally from my experience it's League of Legends.
