How to get a ticket to RtCF

I was writing this up for a friend but I think this will help people get tickets. It just worked for me and got me the second ticket in the 12pm bunch. Hopefully this alleviates some of the mistake of releasing tickets in bunches of 25. Oh and I stole this method from some dude whose name I will edit into this post in one second -- wandererjs. I would suggest you start doing this method about 10 minutes early and get the hang of the rhythm of it. I used Chrome, I don't know how this guide works for other browsers.

FIRST: Go to https://www.play.net/gs4/quests/list_slots.asp?questID=227

Select the "DETAILS" button for the day/time you're trying to buy tickets (the button you would use for 8pm tonight is denoted using a large red arrow):

Now you're at this screen! See that ORANGE SIGN UP button inside that red jewstar? CLICK IT FOR THE LOVE OF ABRAHAMIC RELIGIONS AND FREEDOM.

Oh but you're doing this before 8pm right? So you're going to see this page. In fact, if you do this right, you're going to see this page a lot.

NOW PRESS the BACKSPACE KEY

Hey you're back to that one page with the big orange button! Click that again! In fact, don't ever move your mouse away from that button. Just keep clicking BACKSPACE and your mouse button over and over again. A good tip is that you can click the mouse button .1 seconds after you click backspace, and even if the screen isn't up, Chrome thinks you're pressing the SIGN UP button and you'll shoot over to that screen. You can go SO FAST.

Okay so start doing that about 3 minutes before the onsale time and just keep doing it. Keep doing it as fast as you can, but focus on one part of the error screen and practice giving yourself a second to recognize whether it's the error screen or anything different. You don't want to end up on the GOOD screen and then hit BACK.

So here's what the GOOD SCREEN looks like. Check out all my characters! I like y's in my names and Neil Patrick Harris. When you get to this screen, just scroll down as fast as you can and hit that PURCHASE TICKETS button. Don't do anything else! You can take any character you want and no one cares about your level or profession.

Good on you, Ryv. That's about as good of a shot as you're going to get using this method.

I could be wrong on this, but I'm pretty sure the first thing to update will be the URL in your bar, which, if you're too early, will be https://www.play.net/gs4/quests/error.asp?questInvalid=2007&questID=227, and if you're not too early, will obviously be something different. So if you're jonesing for that tiny edge, this might be the quickest way to see whether you're loading the right page or not so that you can backspace.

I think just went through these three pages as fast as I could. If you practice it, you can go pretty fast. I found trying to reload pages is not helpful. I hope this helps someone. Good Luck.

That definitely works too but I found it to be a little slower. This method you should sit there and hit BACKSPACE / MOUSE CLICK -- BACKSPACE / MOUSE CLICK as fast as you can with about a .5 second delay. You see the good screen, hit the orange button. The only thing I think that could fuck it up is Simu's servers are giving people database errors I've heard. I didn't get any this morning.

You really don't want to do it this way. Whether you reload, or cycle through the pages, you're downloading the webpages html, text, graphs, java/asp scripts over and over again, and requesting those from the server, which has to provide them. Typically, each object on a screen is a separate HTTP request, so a webpage can easily be 10-50 requests from that server. Do that too much, and you'll get whammied with the Error 500: Internal server error.

When you use the backspace / click method, you're really just clicking that one link, requesting one page. When you hit backspace, you are [probably] looking at your cached version, so not even requesting it from the server; you can just click that link again.

No I did it all in another chrome window and then realized 2 hours later that I still had the whole history chain in there, just hit back a lot and took screenshots. Then Tisket showed me how to do graphic design so I could make lightning bolts on it.
