I'm so excited the Olympics are starting.

Anyone think the Americans will get booed at the opening ceremonies tonight?

I dont think that they will.

Booed? For what reason? The Olympics are in Greece not Iraq. :P

I think there will probably be some booing going on by people who can't distinguish between our administration and the athletes competing in an international competition.

It's no different than an American travelling outside of the country being harrassed just because they are American.

Yes you can't blame all Americans for the Gov'ts foreign policy.

I have no interest in the Olympics this year as it is becoming abundandly clear it is a contest of chemists not athletes. I hope they clean up the Olympics so I can enjoy it again.

I don't care if they boo. They'll be booing in high definition and widescreen.

Or the way Americans treat the French.

I'll be watching as much coverage of them as I can get. Though I dislike just about all team spots, I love the more individual competitions. Gymnastic and diving are my favorites of the summer events and doping is much less of a problem there. No amount of chemically enhanced speed or power will make up for lack of skill.

It kind of bothers me that all the martial arts (karate, judo, tae kwon do, wrestling, boxing) are held seperately. I mean, what's the point of learning to fight if you can only do well against someone doing exactly what you expect them to do?

It was nice to hear the crowd give the US team a cheer.

Damn! I missed the opening ceremonies. But I was conducting a little sport of my own.

How did this one compare to Barcelona? That was wild.

It had tons of pageantry and symbolism. It was complex, ornate and very well done. Quite impressive and stately. And honestly, I was bored to death. I prefer my music and my pageantry more lively: with more energy. I'm not a fan of sitting there watching something go by and would rather be drawn into it. It was wonderfully done. Just not for me.

Thats funny Raven, I thought it was one of the most beautiful opening ceremonies I could remember.

I even found the part with the man and woman playing and running in the water to be kind of sensual. Surely wouldnt have had that during halftime at the super bowl.

As you said we all have different tastes, but for me I thought it was great.

Oh, it was indeed beautiful and beautifully done. I can appreciate something's artistic merits and still be bored to tears. I prefer my music powerful and my dance energetic. I like to be swept up by the action and drawn into what's happening instead of just observing. I dislike museums and parades for just that reason: all you can do is just stand there and watch - much like the opening ceremony. The drum dialogue was, I thought, actually one of the better parts of it as it was the most high energy part of the show.

I am so pissed. Our cable is going in and out right now (it was completely out for like three hours earlier today) during my one of my favorite events! I'm going to kill the cable company.

Olympics without hockey is like food without taste.

Paul Hamm's reaction was so great. What an incredible moment that was to watch. It's times like that that really define the Olympic experience.

It was fantastic....The comeback....the improabability...it came down to the LAST attempt of the LASTcompetitor in the LAST event. NBC must have been peeing their pants with happiness cause Olympic drama rarely gets any better.

I mean maybe Keri Strug or something, but this was a great moment.

OMG that comeback was the best! That was just incredible! I was bouncing in the sofa I was so excited for him. I haven't been this excited and estatic about Olympic events since the men won the gymnastics back in 1984.

This year has had incredible atheletes. Well every year does but the comebacks and victories have been very memorable.

I  Olympics!

Ya that was quite a performance on high bar for Hamm. There are medal lifting events today Lalana. Just go to nbcolympics.com and they have the schedule for all their affiliated stations.
