View Full Version : Lich opening another application?
So I'm trying to run Lich on a new PC but every time I click on 'play' it opens up another application (media maker?!).
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
I just want to play :(

You'll need to try to go into your default programs in your control panel and check what .sal files are associated to...
The launcher auto-downloads the .sal file from Simutronics... which is then interpreted by WFE or Stormfront to authenticate and connect.
may want to reinstall Wizard / Stormfront / WFE after breaking the association with media maker to make sure that they properly snag .sal files as their own.
.sal default is Launcher (Simutronics.Autolaunch) so it should work?
.rb default is Ruby Interpreter
.rbw default is Ruby Interpreter
NTI Media Maker is linked to .cdm and .ncd
Didn't realise how much I relied on lich until I didn't have it anymore.. damn I'm lazy.
It's also 3.30am and I need to go to bed, maybe it will magically fix itself while I sleep.
Thanks for the help Whirlin.

Clearly GS, and lich, want you to make videos.
Clearly. I will go and do that right now.
In the meantime, I'm still unable to log in via Lich.

None of that really makes any sense. In theory, the file association shouldn't matter at all, because Lich downloads and creates the sal file and hands it off to the launcher, and the log says it's starting launcher.exe. Seems like either launcher.exe isn't really the launcher, or launcher is started and when it tries to start wizard.exe, it somehow manages to start media maker.. maybe a media maker wizard.
Launcher is the small window that shows up in the top left of the screen for a couple seconds. Does that window show up before media maker, or does it go straight to media maker?
It goes straight to media maker.
I've got Windows 8 btw, if that helps.

Try updating to Lich 4.4.12. http://www.lichproject.org/updater/lich-4.4.12.rb
It still brings up media maker after I click 'play' but there is another window that pops up now with this error message.
GLib-GObject-WARNING **:unable to set property `background-set' of type `gboo
lean' from value of type `gchararray'
C:/Users/Day/Downloads/lich-4.4.12.rb: line 278
Keeps repeating those two lines.

Rename lich-4.4.12.rb to lich.rbw, try again, and post the debug file.
this is the temp file data

I can't see any reason for it not to work. You could try cutting the Simu launcher out of the loop by using a custom launch command. In the Lich game entry, click the checkbox for "Custom launch command". Select the wizard option from the first dropdown box, and put the path to the wizard in the second dropdown box.
Well.. good news is, the media maker didn't pop up! But neither did anything else.

You left out the part where you set the path for the wizard. It might be something like C:\PROGRA~2\SIMU\wizard

Also, don't post that key in the debug file. People can use it to log into your character. It's a single use key, and I just used it to log into your character for a second, so you should be safe now.
Yay!! It worked :)
Thank you!
Okay everything seems to be updating now.
