View Full Version : how far would you take a bow enchant
I have a fully unlocked wand bow which i will be a full 7x in a few weeks. I also have enough pp to take it up to 10x with the thought of using imbued ranger rods and cheap bow shop arrows.
(im mastered in fletching but still hate the time / cost of fletched arrows.) especially since i will be burning through them with the flares.
questions.
are there any benefits to using fletched arrows over store bought arrows?
will the bow flares work on arrows that have been minor edged? meaning i would only need to enchant the bow to 9x..
will the bow flares work on arrows that have been e-bladed? meaning i would not have to further enchant it at all.

I don't know.

Don't think so.
Both of these are easy to test, though. I think the idea of a 10x wandbow with 0x store-bought arrows is kind of cool.

If you buy standard arrows they don't come with flares or the +5 from mastery

No. You can only use plain fletched arrows. Any magical component to the arrow would/should cancel the wandbow flare.

Personally, I wouldn't take a bow over 6x. It's cheap enough, only like 3m sunk value if disarmed/lost. You can eblade the arrows for the full 10x and keep flares. No fletching required.

By far the more practical approach, and less maintenance even than ranger rods for wand-bow flares, but whatever floats the OP's boat. He would get the extra DS from the bow and the increased flare percentage.
My main who will be using this bow, is a ranger, so getting rods wont be a problem. Also, one of my alts is an enchanting wizard, so getting the rods imbedded also will not be a problem.
The idea of the extra DS from bow enchant, as well as flares on every shot, was my main motivator for this idea.
With my bow being about to use iron, silver ,gold, crystal, blue, wands, I was thinking this would be one weapon that could be used anywhere.

My two cents:
Having bow enchant add directly to parry DS is pretty fantastic. Just balance your ET decision with the thought that bows can be disarmed in some hunting areas.
Re: wand bows. One of the beautiful things about bows is their speed. Loading and unloading wands can be fun but I ditched the wand bow after ten minutes. Wands drain incredibly fast. Buy some flaring arrows, fire like crazy, rest, rinse, repeat.

I would only worry about using PP to enchant your bow beyond 6x if you're already using armor that is prohibitively expensive to bring to any enchant higher...
Either way, you're looking at the cost associated with +5 DS.

The extra DS from the bow enchants is not worth the cost/time investment in my opinion.
You don't need it in defensive..
..and it's too paltry in offensive.

Im using 10x hcp augmented chain armor.
and as a side note ive decided to keep it at 7x for now.
thank everyone for all your advice and thoughts
