Pit Fight! Underground Bloodsport, May 18th at 9 PM

Come one, come all! Two men enter, one man leaves!!!

The Black Hand Trading Company is hosting an underground (literally) pit fight, with live betting on May 18th, starting at 9 PM EST.

Location: The Nexus of the Wehnimer's Landing Catacombs
Fighters: TBD. If you are interested in participating, send me a PM. For this event I am looking for AT LEAST 4 fighters of all levels. The more fighters we have, the more fights!
In your PM, please indicate:
1) The name of the character
2) The character's class and level
3) Any backstory you'd be interested in including in a pre-fight announcement

Rules of the Fights:
1) Self spelled only. Using any items (blue crystals, small statues, imbeds) is strictly prohibited, and will result in disqualification. Fighters will have as much time as they like prior to the fight to spell up, but will be watched to make sure they don’t bend the rules. Any outside assistance is also prohibited.
2) All forms of fighting are allowed, except for damaging AoEs (so e-Wave is allowed, but Meteor Storm is not). Stalking & Hiding, Guild Skills, CMANs are all allowed.
3) The fight will start with the drop of an item from the master of ceremonies. Fighting will continue until:
A. A fighter is killed,
B. Someone flees to another room (of their own accord), or
C. the end of the Round (2 minutes time have elapsed).
Once a round is over, fighters are allowed to tend their wounds for 30 seconds to the best of their ability. Empaths are allowed to heal down, if they wish. Fighting will continue until a Fighter wins, or their opponent yields.

Prizes:
Fighters will win a portion of total wagers. In addition, there will be a surprise prize for both winning fighters.

Betting:
The bets will take place in the lobby of the Wehnimer's Landing bank. For the undercard fight each bet is 25,000 silvers. For the main event, each bet is 100,000 silvers. After a portion has been taken for the house and the winning fighter, all remaining wagers will be divided among the winning bettors of a particular fight. People are allowed to bet as much as they wish, each bet will increase their "share" of the potential winnings accordingly.

EXCEPTION: If a person is Warcried (or similarly feared) into another room and paralyzed, their opponent is allowed to follow them into the other room and finish them off.

Followup Note: I have listed "8 fighters of all levels", however as many as sign up we could potentially have fight. I need 4 fighters minimum, but I think we could probably handle a great deal more.

I'm going to temporarily rule that it would be allowed- it doesn't cause physical harm to other people in the room, and it (I presume) is non-fatal. If people have similar questions please ask, and I'll rule on a case-by-case basis. We're really just trying to avoid murdering spectators (at least *this* time).

We actually did consider 1017, and are inclined to allow it. But it would be considered an offensive move, and would need to be sung AFTER the fight began.

But, we are still not fully settled on rules, so be wary of the possibility of us deciding to probibit it.

We are striving to limit rules on our fights, since this is an "illegal" underground fight, and not some sport-like competition.

Also, keep in mind that the focal point of the event is the betting, and not the fights. The betting system will account for favored vs. unfavored fighters.

The air is damp and musty, while gently drifting in from the surrounding tunnels are some of the most appalling odors it has ever been your misfortune to experience. Tunnels slope slightly downward in all directions.

Honestly though, I can't see that happening. It's also an official event, and on the calendar, so it is GM approved.

We've got plenty of members who can sweep, which should mess up most normal rat scripts. They can complain to the GM if they like, if they want to get their account flagged for the GM's morning script check.

I'd like to thank everyone for coming! It was a great turnout!

If anyone has any suggestions or comments, please feel free to give them! We plan to have these fights more often. This was our first go at it, so we'd love to make as many improvements as possible, in the future!

I know one thing we will work on, is the time between fights, since it did drag on too long a few times, and took a lot of work on the bookie's part. (Props to Skeevve, btw. That took a lot more work than most realize!).

Maybe I will make a spreadsheet or something, to make the process easier/faster.
