This is beginning to infuriate me. I reformatted my computer 9 hours ago and I'm still trying to completely restore it, there's only really one problem left that's been fucking with me for the past 2 hours, and it's my display adapter.

I got the video drivers installed, but there's an issue with my "Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller".

It says this, "Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)".

I've been looking for help / fixes and trying to repair it for too long... hopefully someone here can help...

Oh, I'm using an Inspiron 1100

I'm looking at a fricken 4x4 monitor box here! If I can't get back to my original 15" or so monitor size I'm gonna be bald by 3am!

Try updating drivers from the maker's website or windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Try a new card?

Can't, it's a laptop and one of those internal cards that I can't change.

Make sure your onboard video is 'enabled' in the bios. Other than that I don't know what to say. Make sure you have the most current drivers for that specific card.

Have you checked the laptop's site for bios updates? Laptops and Drivers can be a bit of a bitch at times.

When you downloaded the drivers, did it come as an .exe that you had to run?

Try right-clicking on My Computer, go to Properties, click on the Hardware tab, and then go to Device Manager. Scroll down to your video card in the list, click on its properties, and then click on Update Driver, and point it to wherever you downloaded the drivers.

It's a longshot, but once or twice I've encountered a driver problem where the drivers would only stick if I updated them through the device manager instead of just running the driver .exe.

Inspiron is a Dell, no?

Call Dell or visit their website, they should have the driver I would think.
