Sheriff's official says a suspect has been arrested after a stabbing attack at a Houston-area community college campus left 14 people injured, including 12 that required hospitalization. At least a few victims are listed in critical condition.
Lone Star community college's campus in Cypress posted an alert on its website just before 12 p.m. warning students of two armed suspects and saying one person remains at large. The alert warned people to seek shelter in a secure location.
Alan Bernstein of the Harris County Sheriff's Office says authorities have one suspect in custody.
A different Lone Star system campus was the site of a January shooting. Two people were wounded, and a 22-year-old man was charged with aggravated assault.

Hmm, I went to Jr collage there after high school. Not a very large school for the numbers of people that attend, so for 2 people to stab 14 it would only take a few seconds.

Gilliland said investigators are trying to determine what sparked the stabbings, but they appear to be random. No weapon has been found and initial reports indicate the suspect may have used a knife or pencil.

Chalfan said police then used a Taser on the suspect.Pussies. Real citizens or real cops would have exercised their Constitutional rights and shot him (AND the King of England) dead. Or is the Taser a clever prelude to the electric chair? I take it back, you stay classy Texas.

Crusifixtions were not for nobles. It was generally reserved for the lowest of classes and the most heinous of crimes. Consider the slave rebellion in Rome or the effect it had to Jewish rebels in Jerusalem many years before Christ.
It was more psychological then anything. Fuck with Roman law and this is what happens to you.

Yes, but not all the leaders of Rome were as great a man as Gaius Julius Caesar.
You also forget, Caesar never killed Pompeii. The Egyptians did as a gift for him. I don't think Julius would have crucified him either way.
And we can't say that about commonly... The first thing I learned when I went for my history major... We know nothing about history.

Consider the slave rebellion in Rome or the effect it had to Jewish rebels in Jerusalem many years before Christ. There were no Jewish rebels against the Roman Empire many years before Christ because there was no Roman Empire many years before Christ. The Jews, like pretty much every other occupied territory, repeatedly rebelled against the Roman Empire no matter how comically brutal the repressions were: in some cases even because of how brutal the repressions were.
Put yourself in their place. They can hardly step aside. Cannot let their hands be tied.

I'm too lazy to reference at the moment but I think it was about 100 years before Christ? They crucified several hundred Jews that broke out in rebellion during Passover. A riot like that didn't happen again for quite some time.

Well, you also have Spartacus as a very famous revolt (Serviles), but there were quite a few servile revolts that all ended with mass crucifixtions... But the Jews revolted quite a few times... Before the Romans said fuck it and basically pwned the living shit out of their entire culture. And I don't mean crucifixtion. The jews were not scared of that at all... They died to the last man woman and child in a couple of sieges.

Did you actually read the whole article? He inconspicuously walked through a crowd and stabbed people in the face and shit. I'm not surprised he got as far as he did. If it was in between classes in a crowded hall you could walk fast and probably injure alot of people before those ahead of you caught on to what was happening.
It takes awhile for people to react to crazy shit like this happening its psychology. People also have to overcome shock, fear, flight anxieties before regaining their ability to think straight and react. The super hero SWAT team ninja type people who can react in a split second to situations like this are few and far between, and usually trained over years to be able to have these quick reactions. I attend college at the campus that had the shooting a couple months back. The Lone Star College System has their own police force that do carry guns, wonder where they were during all of this, probably giving parking violations… It's kind of insane that the guy actually got 14 people before he was taken down but it doesn't surprise me, a lot of students in those colleges don't pay too much attention to what is going on around them, especially in between classes. The ones who have friends are usually cliqued up with them chatting and the ones who don't are mainly moving on to their next stop. The psycho will most likely plead insanity and unfortunately, the tax payers will be stuck giving him 3 hots and a cot for awhile until he's released. Even in Texas, our justice system sucks.

All their revolts happened during the Empire (After Jesus as well). There were THREE major ones. They didn't care about being nailed on crosses. After the first one they spread the jews all over, enslaving a lot of them. Following the third revolt, Jews were completely barred from Jerusalem by the Romans. They didn't stop revolting due to punishment for it, they stopped, mostly, because the Roman Legions nearly wiped them out in conflicts.
Which leads me back to the original point... Punishment isn't a deterrent to criminals (Not to call Jews criminals or anything.) They generally either think they won't get caught, they don't care, or they think they will meet some goal.

Or it might make me want to avenge my buddy. Or if I knew my buddy was innocent it might make me say "screw it, if these mooks are going to crucify me anyway I might as well get some shots in first". Or I might be living in such horrific conditions that the relative impact of a horrific death might not be that impressive to me. Or I might be drunk on testosterone, or drunk on drink, or drunk on fear, or egged on by a crowd, or egged on by a lover, or egged on by eggs, or I might just be a dope (ask crb!).
Regarding the specific event, Rome didn't conquer Jerusalem until 63 BC, and it was apparently in that sort of middle ground autonomous state for quite awhile, so no rebellions. It's possible you're remembering a rebellion of Jews in some other part of the Republipire, but I can't find any evidence of that either. You're right, we should ban all guns and find out.
Yep...had to look it up as you made me 2nd guess my memory. I was refering to the events around the Maccabean revolt. It wasn't Rome, but close enough. Something like 800 Jews were crucified, and it was effective enough to stop that rebellion and get them to accept occupation.
And maybe you would feel that way, but consider then likely your whole family would die that horrible painful death too. That may change your mind before you go all out vigilante.

Heh, the Jews won that revolt and booted the Seleucids out... And were Independent, largerly, until Rome came.
Perhaps thinking of the Siege of Masada against the Romans? Everyone inside died (900ish), but it was due to fighting or suicide... They didn't want to be captured by the Romans.

No I don't do well playing Noob or Smoke or Bin-Laden. Just Katana or Kitans or Kitty-Kat-Pussy-Juice or whatever she is called. My button mashing skillz work great with her, and at the end I will cut you up into bacon bits and rub your blood all over those bulging tits in that skanky ninja porn outfit.
Here's what I've got for Kitana:

In non-MK related news, Osama Bin-Laden makes one hell of a GS sorcerer.
That was me agreeing with you and it didn't copy the post you were responding to... which is lame.
Ah, yeah, with that other quote missing it seemed like you were just reiterating what I'd said, which... yeah.

Sub Zero died in MK1. Then his brother or someone came back and dressed as him to take revenge. Unless of course you refer to the latest MK game with the alternate story line to the original trilogy in which he became the cyborg ninja against his will. (love that game by the way - old school kick the shit out of your buddy 2d gameplay) So which one are you refering to?
Cyber Sub Zero from MK9 is still dead MK1 Sub Zero's little brother.
And I'm still trying to figure out why they came up with Cyber Sub Zero in MK9 instead of Cyber Smoke from MK3.
And Injustice comes out Tuesday, and I scored an early copy through a friend. And it rules.
Check out some Batman pwnage from the demo that came out last week:

Ahh yes. And isn't Noob sub-zero original in the netherworld or something? Too lazy to look it up.

I'm curious to see what the reaction will be when someone eventually starts killing people with a bow & arrow.
Or when a knife wielding person decides to go for the throat or the jugular instead of stabbing in random areas that may or may not kill someone.
How long until we apply loaded, emotionally charged adjectives to knives? An 'extended magazine x-acto knife', a 'wildlife assault-style hunting knife', etc. I'm also waiting for someone to actually kill someone with a bayonette so they can finally try to rationalize the bayonette lug ban.

I will admit the gun rights part of me laughed when I heard they called it a "razor type knife" on CNN.
