so far:
You need to decode your combination,
there are 6 truffles in all: white, wrinkled, lumpy, black, spotted, marbled
do it right or the truffle burns up... mess up in the middle and the correct ones burn up too...
Its going to be around for a while so everyone gets a chance to get a katana if they want one... each is unique and has a show...
can only be altered by katana alterers...
Hopefully one could desplay it in their home...that would be nice...

To be honest, this "walkthrough" mentioned in that thread doesn't help at all.
1) What do you do to get the quest started? Listen to one of the haikus?
2) Do truffles THEN come after you listen to a haiku?
3) How do you get to the place where you offer the truffle?
Hmmmmmm?

Start gathering truffles.
2) Do truffles THEN come after you listen to a haiku?
They spawn in dark, damp rooms.
3) How do you get to the place where you offer the truffle?
Through a leaf/vine-covered arch. It's probably near the truffles.

That's not really part of the quest and it's common knowledge. You get truffles in Lower Dragonsclaw. You don't need to listen to the Erithian woman at all if you already know what to do. There's an arch in Dragonsclaw. You kneel, put truffles in the shrine, and if they don't asplode they're right. There are six types of truffles, you need the correct combination of three. Mine, for example, was marbled, white, black. If you put the wrong truffle in you have to start over. It's very tedious. When you get it right you go to the quest area, and that is where the guide starts.

Please tell me they don't seriously have haikus.

hahaha I was wrong.
They are haikus.
Youko recites:
"Stay home avarice,
Dream blades are for the seekers,
Solitary path."
Youko recites:
"Blade she has stolen
As bright as your heart's desire,
One forged in the wood."
Youko recites:
"Kindred of foxes,
And like vulpines her slyness,
Tread not the wrong path."
Youko recites:
"Blade most desired,
Crafted of dreams for heroes,
Not unworthy souls."
Youko recites:
"My sister she is,
But of carnivorous soul,
Deadly her dreams are."
Youko recites:
"Offerings for her,
Alone in a wooded shrine,
Quite fond of tubers."
Youko recites:
"What then when you find
This phantom that you pursue
In another's hands?"
Youko recites:
"How can you reach that
Which is just beyond contact?
The wet holds a clue."
Youko recites:
"Find he who will teach,
And a strong maker of blades,
Nothing so easy."
Youko recites:
"In Ronan's realm lies
A land of dark deception,
Where she awaits you."
Youko recites
"A cave very dank,
Where bright things hide in the walls,
Look and look again."

Thanks, all.
This shit is tedious, yes.
But I might be drunk enough to do it.
Might being the keyword.

The truffle thing is completely redundant and unnecessary. The actual quest is a matter of how quickly you can type go left, go center, go right, go right, some directions, and find some gems.

I have never been more disappointed in Simutronics (regarding the haiku thing, for all I care the katana quest could be sit perfectly still for five days).

I'm stuck on the gem part - do you just need 10 gems of any combination? Do you throw all of them into the trough at once? Any help would be great, I'm stuck there and can't find any clues to help. Thanks
