You heard it right! This is happening on April 19th, and bidding will begin soon after 10pm Eastern! Be there EARLY if you have serious interest in this event. Bring tents! Bring water! Sandwiches! PIE!

The Dark Tower will be going up for auction and this is the place to be for those who would like to own their very own special property near Icemule Trace!

The Homesteaders Office of Icemule Trace will be conducting the auction, so make sure you are able to attend!

VERY IMPORTANT RULES FOR THIS SPECIAL PROPERTY AUCTION!

1) Anyone may bid during this auction! However, Special Properties are limited to one per ACCOUNT. If the winner already has a Special Property on their account they will FORFEIT their older property. (Premium homes are not Special Properties!) No exceptions!

2) You will NOT be able to transfer this to another account OR character. Bring in the character on the account of which you wish to own the property. No exceptions!

3) The winner will need to contact GM Kaikala to confirm ownership and set up your ability to pay rent. Rent will be 40,000 per month and failure to pay for 3 months will result in the property being seized. Failure to contact GM Kaikala will result in you not being able to pay rent and the property will eventually be seized. No exceptions!

4) This Special Property is NOT applicable for any major changes. Only the FOOD items can be changed. This will be handled by GM Kaikala, and the owner of the property will need to consult with her for any such requests. No exceptions!

5) Complaints should be filed with the Halfling deputy who will promptly toss you in the stocks! No exceptions!

I could have sworn there was once some controversy over this property in regards to the player Blades. Am I confused on that?

You are not confused. The concern was over whether or not active duty service personel should have their private properties forclosed on or not. Of course, we the players are never privy to all the details and SIMU won't share them, but there were a number of players who thought it was a pretty crappy thing to do. If that was the reality of the situation I would have to agree. Maybe someone else knows the details. I don't.

I own one of the other properties near it (Talon Redoubt in Pinefar) and as a rift hunter I can say that it's pretty convenient to own a property in the Pinefar area. The tower is a pretty neat property, and conveniently located close to Icemule.

My guess is around 50 mil, but who knows? Pretty hard to gauge price.

The monthly rent can't be paid in advance?

Archigeek

No, monthly rent can't be paid in advance. Who knows what sort of arrangements a person could make due to extraordinary circumstances, but the basic deal is that you pay monthly, and if you get 3 months behind you get forclosed upon. See details in OP. I think the general concensus was that if he was at war on behalf of the US, we should be cutting him every bit of slack possible. Particularly for a game that has a long history of play by members of the military and has to my knowledge treated them well in the past. My recollection was that Lucos bought it at the forclosure auction, intending to hold it for Blades.

Which makes sense, as Lucos has since moved on, yes?

SHAFT

It has seen previous owners in GSIV Prime, and was originally owned by a rather well-known rogue. This isn't a new property.

In the past, some players have expressed their feelings that the tower will always remain that rogue's home, but it is time to find a new owner. A vacant tower is just unbecoming!

Having said that, here are some details. You will get a general feel of what the tower is like from this "tour" and hopefully it will allow everyone to make a decision on if this is something they would wish to own and pay rent on. Personally, I feel the tower has a significant Lornon theme to it.

The tower is composed of three (3) rooms...

[Dark Tower]
The tower is a circular building, its ceiling towering at least 30 spans overhead. Long tapestries hang from the walls, depicting fierce wars with differing participants and locals. Underfoot, thick carpets are scattered about the chamber, woven in somber tones of grey. In the floor's center, inlaid into the grey granite tile, is a slit-pupilled eye rendered in vivid gold marble. Around the room's circumference stand iron braziers, from which smoke from exotic-smelling incense languidly curls up. You also see a black onyx door.
Obvious exits: southeast

>Some purple and black tendrils of smoke rise up into the air as the faint scent of wolfsbane emanates from the iron braziers.

>The edges of one of the tapestries flutter, causing the figures at the bottom edge to appear in motion.

>Already rich in color against the gold background, the slit-pupiled eye laid into the tile deepens in hue. As the color fades back to its original intensity, the eye seems to have slightly shifted its gaze.

[Dark Tower, Study]
Tapestries have given way to bookshelves, stretching high overhead and filled with tomes in all colors of leather bindings. Tall slits of windows give narrow views of the surrounding countryside, a study of blowing snow and hazy mountains. Nestled in the stacks is an impressive hearth wrought of rough local stone topped by a carved modwir mantle. You also see an orderly ebonwood desk, a modwir credenza with some stuff on it and a basket of sticks.
Obvious exits: northwest, up

>A faint hissing can be heard echoing off the tall walls.

>Odd shadows play off the walls, high above the ground.

The hearth is a fireplace and the sticks are used to ignite/feed the fire.

You estimate that a carved modwir mantle cannot store anything inside of it at all. It also appears that a small amount can be stored on the mantle.

You estimate that an orderly ebonwood desk can store a medium-sized amount with enough space for any number of items. It also appears that a large amount can be stored on the desk. (note: the tower's key can be used to lock/unlock the desk)

On the modwir credenza you see a cup of spiced tea, a glass of golden brandy, a tureen of bone soup and a plate of sea thrak steaks. (note: these food items can be changed at the auction winner's request and must be mediated through GM Kaikala when you e-mail her to set up your ability to pay rent.)

[Dark Tower, Sleeping Chamber]
The room is opulently mantled in tapestries, which cover the granite walls in vibrant colors. They depict a series of battles, all from the distant dawn of history. The largest hangs in the center of the chamber, showing a fierce struggle between a flight of majestic drakes and a hideous swarm of demondim, which over-runs the countryside like a plague of insects. Opposite the arresting landscape sits a large four-poster bed, carved of modwir and draped with heavy, gold velvet.
Obvious exits: down

>lie bed
You climb onto the the modwir bed for a good rest.

>roll bed
You roll around on the modwir bed.

>bounce bed
You bounce up and down on the modwir bed.

>stand bed
You move to a standing position on the modwir bed.

>jump bed
You jump up and down on the modwir bed.

Hope that answers any questions!

Cool in concept, but really nothing that special. Basically just a multi-room home with two pieces of furniture that double as additional locker space.

if the study was a workshop or something, that would be cool...

Property ownership is definitely an RP prop and status symbol first, mechanical benefit distant second situation. Even with your own enchanting room it isn't worth the hundreds of millions you'll spend in an open auction just for mechanical benefit alone.

The monthly rent can't be paid in advance?

You can let it lapse for a couple months though and then pay it all at once, which is like reverse paying in advance.

That's usually what I do with my house since I'm too lazy to go to Solhaven once a month. So instead of paying 75k each month I go every 2-3 months and pay 150-225k.

Doesn't the Tower have a node too?

I'm not bidding on it cause of the way Simu stole it back, pretty crappy of them but pretty much par for the course. Of course I'm sure that won't stop someone from paying for it, there's always some Brazilian who won't stand in solidarity with the worker's party.
