Finally...

Have any of you been to the site in OKC? My mom's best friend lives out there, we went to the site about four or five months after it happened. They had the fences still up around the rubble and were almost done tearing it down... I couldn't take it. I had to leave. It was an incredibly powerful experience.

PS -- Why don't we have a news and news discussion topic?

PPS -- I hope that motherfucker lives to spend every fucking day of that sentence in jail, being ass raped and brutalized. He'd be what... 4025 before his sentence is up?

If there's an off-topic forum, and a member journal forum, and a photo album...

What's so wrong with a news forum?

The judge said that he wished he could rule that Nichols had to have a picture of each of the people that died in his cell forever. He should have ruled it and made it so.

I hope he gets gang raped in prison.. although he looks like he would enjoy that.

They said he expressed "sorrow over his part in the bombing". Whatever. I'm only comforted by my belief in Karma. He'll get it back.. 3 times over.

Was he rich then?
Otherwise, whats the point in awarding millions of dollars in fines or whatever against someone that is going to prison for ever and more?

Terrorists like this do not deserve to live off of the taxes of American citizens.

Mr. Nichols was also sentenced to 10 years in prison and a $5,000 fine for conspiracy, and 35 years and a $25,000 fine for first-degree arson. He was ordered to pay legal fees, $5 million in restitution and $10,000 per count to a victims' fund

So if he doesnt already have that money, where does it come from?
If the answer is "nowhere", then what's the point?

That puts a lein on any future book deals, movie deals, etc. that he may receive the benefit of residual funds thereof.

Fame pays, any type of fame. Just ask Michael Moore.

Happens all the time...

How many movies have there been about murderers and the like as well? They're also getting a piece of the pie. Well the ones who weren't put to death, etc.

I can see why people make the programmes and films about them, but also recognise that for many these are in bad taste/morally dubious. But do criminals get money from them?

Thats bad.

Not in most states.. and he won't get a single penny from the book / movie deal... his victims and of course the lawyers will.

I wish he would have to look at the pictures every day too.

I remember that day vividly, since I live in Oklahoma and was close enough to feel the Boom. I went outside cuz I thought maybe one of those lil airplains crashed or something. I live near Wiley Post Airport. Couldnt see anything then I thought, omg something bad happened and I turned on the T.V. and my thought was confirmed. I just sat there stunned for a while. Then I remembered my sister was supposed to go downtown, at that building to pick up her social security card for her baby. So I tried calling her.. no answer so I was worried that she may have been down there. She finally calls me back a day or so later. Luckily she wasn't down there when it happened.

A couple weeks later we went to the site and yes it was a very powerful experience. I haven't yet gone to the memorial that they built.

So yeah I hope that asshole gets whatever horrible thing is coming to him, slowly and painfully.
