So, I've been pondering this question for a long time. If the Ranger Guild stopped being just a silver suck so you can have "Member of the Ranger Guild" in your profile, what would those skills be?

The one thing that makes a lot of sense to me would be tricks for your companion. If Rangers could train their companions to improve on their base skills, I think that would be awesome.

Some examples:

Avian companions can learn to pluck eyeballs out of enemy combatants.

Feline companions could learn to target the jugular.

Canine companions could learn to pin down your target.

Rodent companions could learn...something.

Of course the feline and canine companions could learn many similar things I'm sure. I just always thought this would be a cool idea. The only down sides I can really see is having to code at least three different types of skills based on companion type, and what would rangers do before 30 in the guild?

Any thoughts on this? Maybe we could plan it all out and send it to Simu. They got monks out, maybe in 10 years they could do this too.

Since no guild beyond Rogue and Warrior was ever supposed to get skills to help in combat, they'd all be fluff stuff. So that kind of ruins your ideas.

Yeah, but pures got alchemy, so plans change right?

ETA: I guess since even though alchemy things can be made to help with combat, those aren't directly made for combat. However, that doesn't mean they can't change that. I mean, it's ridiculous to have guilds that provide absolutely zero benefit. Even if it was fluff, so what?

I'm not really sure I would count alchemy as a combat skill.

Not really.

Fine i will take sheath making from the warrior guild and alchemy from the clerics, boom hybrid class hybrid skills not combat related. Cut and paste some code, Thank you very much.

teach your companions to show room specifics on tracking would be sweet....even if that was the only reward

edit: course I'm not sure if 116 ever allows you to see as far as companions can track?
