Okay, as you may have seen in a few other posts I've had lately...just coming back to the game after a long time, blah blah blah. Seeking some advice on what to hunt, preferably something simple since I'm very out of practice, and near The Landing area since I assume its a good deal more populated than anywhere else. I don't mind underhunting a little bit as long as I'm not spending an hour per hunt.

I know I could probably be a good deal more effective if I dropped thrown weapons and put the points into more CM or something but I dunno I like thrown. Unfortunately I hardly ever use it since its a pain in the ass to use and I don't have one of those special bandoliers or returning throwing weapons.

As far as gear goes, my main weapon is one of those krolvin backslashers (I think shortsword base, 5x, somewhat crit weighted), 4x or 5x buckler (can't remember what it is exactly), and 7x (I think!) lightened double chain. I've probably got a little redux, but my abilities in calculating that are long gone.

oh and as you see I havent picked any armor specialization because I'm unsure what would benefit me more. I guess the evasion since Im wearing chain....but like I said, fishing for advice.

As far as my cmans go, I have no idea. I like garrote for roleplay purposes, but with the rest of the stuff pff who knows.

Ha! Thanks. Who did/do you play?

Anyway, it's all good, Maybe I'll focus on guild training till I cap out on ranks combined with some time at the East Tower

Yeah, armored evasion is probably the way to go. You're approaching a level gap unfortunately in terms of hunting. You could try massive troll kings, black forest ogres, wind wraiths, maybe the stronghold if you avoid the illoke shamen. There's always bandit bounties as well.

If your combat effectiveness is lacking due to skills, you'll have to sacrifice some of your tertiary training. I'd suggest the following:
- Drop pickpocketing and get enough armor training for MBP
- Drop FA & survival and work on getting PF to 2x.

CM-wise I'd suggest this:
- Drop garrote, silent strike, and cutthroat (40 CMP)
- Get combat mobility (2 ranks = 15 CMP) and vanish (3 ranks = 24 CMP)

Also, you should consider going GoS.

Welcome back.

Black Forest Ogres are an interesting case, and as a Rogue, you have an advantage. They come in two brands; Rogues and Wizards. You can tell which they are by their "entrance" message, either spawning or walking in. The Rogues use Cheapshots, and as a master, you can completely shrug that off. The Wizards may be a bit more dangerous, but given that advantage against the Rogues, you could handle them quite well.

Thank you for the replies.

Capn - Yeah I'm going to take a long hard look at my cmans. Mobility and Vanish seem too good to pass up. I left the game before the Adventurer's Guild was implemented, so maybe I can check that out soon.

Kestrel - I vaguely remember hunting that area before I left, also had vipers and boars there too I think. Don't remember too many problems so that's a good suggestion.

Troll Kings are what got me through that range. They can get a little annoying, but they're fairly constant. Mix them in with Adventurer's Guild tasks and you'll be fine.

Whatever you do, don't give up the pickpocketing :D

haha yeah, gonna have to keep the pickpocketing. Though I haven't tried, seems like it would be much tougher to pickpocket successfully these days when you can never really find a crowd of people all in one spot.

Ah and thanks, I remember hunting them for a bit way back, before they messed with the exp system in relation to everyone's level. Do you still need a drake weapon to skin them? (Pretty sure you needed a drake something to do it)

Anything with fire flares will do, is my understanding. Or at the very least anything that naturally flares fire.

That's why you bring your own crowd :D
