View Full Version : TWC Mstrike Calculations

Anyone more familiar with TWC RT calculations? I know the standard calculation is base1+(base2-2) = total RT. But Krakiipedia seems to also indicate heavier weapons in the offhand can increase RT if you don't have requisite strength. Is that the case? How heavy impacts? What's the STR requirement to mitigate?

Likewise I'm seeing some odd numbers on Mstrike (open 2 critters). Running an elf with current strength bonus of 10 and AGI/DEX that gives me a -3 RT.

With a dual longswords I'm seeing mstrike RT of 8. With a handaxe and gauche i'm seeing 6. That doesn't seem to make sense to me, because given my -3 RT I should be putting both those weapons below the threshold of the base 5 RT.

The thing that really throws the kicker in is that dual handaxes is 9 RT, and a handaxe longsword combo is also 9 RT. Which I don't get becasue the longsword should be -1 under the handaxe.

So anyway - it seems to point out to me that there's multiplication in the formula for how mstrike RT is calculated, or I'm missing something with the weight of the weapons.

Likewise - how is focused mstrike RT calculated? Does it tend to be faster, slower, or the same compared to a 2 target open mstrike?

Thanks!
Josh

You get penalized if both weapons weigh the same or if the offhand is heavier.

You are the man.

Good thing I just bought a lightened longsword for my offhand. Thanks again.

Even if the off-hand weapon is lighter than the main-hand weapon there are still potential penalties depending on the off-hand weapon's weight and your strength bonus. For STR bonus < 5, off-hand weapons weighing > 2lbs cause a 1 second penalty. For STR bonus > 5 there is a 1 second penalty for weapons more than 3 lbs. At some point beyond that, for sure at STR bonus > 20 but possibly earlier, you can use an off-hand weapon weighing up to 4lbs without incurring a penalty. Continuing to increase weapon weight beyond these thresholds also eventually causes a 2 second penalty.

Also, the RTs you posted for dual longswords and axe+gauche make sense, based on your stats and standard weapon weights. But I'm curious as to the weights of the weapons used in the dual axes and axe + longsword.
