View Full Version : AFK scripter now e-waving
Candor

So today my favorite (not!) AFK scripter started e-waving. His stupid script doesn't allow for my disk, and I have been putting up with his stealing kills. Now the moron apparently thinks he can e-wave as long as another person isn't visible.
Isn't allowing for another person's disk a pretty basic thing for a hunting script?
If someone thinks I shouldn't kill this idiot repeatedly, I'm listening...

If you have a disk out and he's stealing your kills and ewaving then I say kill him. Well you could try talking to him first, maybe he doesn't realize his script doesn't see your disk.

I have tried talking to him several times. He is completely non-responsive. I don't think he is even watching the screen.

Report him and kill him then. People like him give non afk scripters a bad name.

Absolutely do NOT report THEN kill the guy. Report gets GM attention, they look in and see you unconsented PVP that also turns off the afk scripting. Unless your goal is to get yourself a warning...
If you've got your feelings hurt, then kill him.
If you want to get him to stop. REPORT and ASSIST.

Warn interact him, then report him and let him keep e-waving you.

I thought if someone is stealing your kills and casting spells of war at you over and over again that was reason enough to kill someone?

I don't fully appreciate the concept of REPORT when there's no staff in the game, and killing is a lot more fun.
But I'll try the mature way, just this once. Yeah I'm gettin old...sigh...

I believe staffs are on, but does not show up under the 'onduty' verb

I think it's pretty rare when there is no GMs on at all. A lot of times they are invisible. Doesn't mean they respond to every report though.

Yeah but Candor can't have this guy screwing with him. Candor needs retribution. Kill him

When did Candor stop talking in the third person? Gompers does not approve.

Well Candor considered the mature approach...for about 5 minutes. He was more drunk than usual at the time, let it go.
When Candor sees the scripting idiot again, he's rolton food. Candor will let the sucker steal some kills and e-wave a couple times first.

Sounds like Gelston's idea would be the best long term solution if this persons scripting is that much of an issue.

Maybe they're ewaving because they do know you're around, just to avoid getting picked by some griefer. Oh, the irony.

Candor? what's worse? An AFK scripter or a really bad pickpocket that gets caught and logs out?

I never steal and then log out. In fact, I sometimes broadcast on the net when I am about to leave, to give everyone a few last minutes to find me.
A very few times I have been forced out of the game due to connection issues, but I always come back.
I get arrested and killed all the time. I joke about it. What makes you think I have anything to fear? Idiot.

I actually did consider that I was being specifically targeted. Two problems with that:
1. I'm always hidden.
2. On one occasion I saw the scripter e-wave another hidden player.
I don't see the scripter in the game so far today, but as soon as I do, it's killin time. I an loading up on scarabs - it may take a few tries but I'll get em sooner or later (the scripter is much more experienced than I am, so this is my only option). All I have to do is set off the trap in a room full of critters, and he's bound to walk in before the scarab dies.
I will take the advice of using WARN INTERACT. I doubt I will get in much trouble afterwards.

Don't kill him a bunch and then warn interact him. It will invalidate it completely.

How would you set the scarab off without killing yourself?

If he complains, I'll suggest that he post about the incident on this board :)

We used to get tons of AFK scripters hiding out in RR. Just REPORT it when you see him and sooner or later they'll stop him. No one gives a fuck if you kill their little string of text AFK-scripting and you're just going to confuse the GMs.

Oh I have to die. A small price.

Well the scripter disappeared for a couple days, but he resurfaced this morning.
The good thing: He died.
The bad thing: I didn't kill him. He pissed off another rogue, and that rogue killed him.
I am hoping that this scripter didn't learn his lesson and will be back.

Thanks for the update. Is there a twitter account I could follow to keep abreast of this action?

Remind me how scarabs work again, it has been a while. You purposely fail to disarm, or pick through it, and it drops and depending on the type (how many types are there now?) it basically tries to kill everyone, until it dies? Once it is active like that can you disarm it without spells? For some reason, I seem to recall a change a few years back where only the person who drops the scarab could disarm it or something. If its set off like this, can a rogue manually disarm?

I use only red and onyx scarabs for this purpose, as they behave the way I need. I also try to do this in a room with a few critters in it to keep the target in the room when he arrives.
If you set it off (I just pick the box with a crappy pick), the scarab will leap on your body and eventually kill you. When you die, the scarab will fall off your body and hang around for a bit. It may leap on anyone else who walks into the room.
Not a sure fire way to kill someone, but if it works, it will kill someone of any level.
You can attack and kill a live scarab if it hasn't attached itself to a body.

Ah yeah, forgot about being able to attack them. Red causes bleeding death, what does the onyx do?

I'm not sure, since I'm not the OP, but I suspect that was sarcasm.
The idea, in other words, is that your internet fight with some person or another isn't all that fascinating, so news updates aren't all that necessary.

I've been asked for logs. Some people find these sort of things amusing. You are certainly free to ignore it (and so is everyone else).

I have heard that you can get an onyx scarab off a person by cutting off a limb (or I assume Limb Disrupt) when the scarab is in that limb. This might be rumor, might be true, I don't know either way.

Ambushing the limb definitely works, a much cleaner choice is Limb Disruption, which won't deal a ton of damage and potentially kill them (there was recently a thread on the officials where someone was chopping a scarab'd limb, killed them, and got arrested for it). Note that either way, the scarab will crawl out, still alive. You have to kill it as well.
Clerics can still use their Uncurse on them, but doing so causes the scarab to "burst out" and deal damage, which can also kill them. If it is in the chest, its the ONLY way to get them out at that point, but if it is in the limb, Limb Disruption is best.
