In some remote corner of the universe, poured out and glittering in innumerable solar systems, there once was a star on which clever animals invented knowledge. That was the haughtiest and most mendacious minute of world history - yet only a minute. After nature had drawn a few breaths the star grew cold, and the clever animals had to die.

VII.
As lines, so love's oblique, may well
Themselves in every angle greet :
But ours, so truly parallel,
Though infinite, can never meet.

VIII.
Therefore the love which us doth bind,
But Fate so enviously debars,
Is the conjunction of the mind,
And opposition of the stars.

Who, if I cried out, would hear me among the angels' hierarchies?
and even if one of them pressed me suddenly against his heart:
I would be consumed in that overwhelming existence.
For beauty is nothing but the beginning of terror, which we are still just able to endure,
and we are so awed because it serenely disdains to annihilate us.
Every angel is terrible.
And so I hold myself back and swallow the call-note of my dark sobbing.

Two unrelated favorites...

If I haven’t begun thrice to write and as often thrown away my pen, may I never take it up again; my head and my heart have been at cuffs about you two long hours, — says my head, you’re a coxcomb for troubling your noddle with a lady whose beauty is as much above your pretensions as your merit is below her love.

Then answers my heart, — Good Mr Head, you’re a blockhead. I know Mr. F–r’s merit better than you; as for your part, I know you to be as whimsical as the devil, and changing with every new notion that offers, but for my share I am fixt, and can stick to my opinion of a lady’s mertit for ever, and if the fair she can secure an interest in me, Monsieur Head, you may go whistle.

Come, come, (answers my head) you, Mr Heart are always leading the gentleman into some inconvenience or other; was it not you that first enticed him to talk to this lady? Your damn’d confounded warmth made him write to her; your leaping and skipping disturbs his sleep by night and his good humour by day; in short sir, I will hear no more on’t; I am head, and will be obeyed.

You lie , sir, replied my heart (being very angry), I am head in matters of love, and if you don’t give your consent, you shall be forced, for I am sure that in this case all the members will be on my side. What say you, Gentlemen Hands!

Oh (say the hands), we would not forego the tickling pleasure of touching a delicious white soft skin for the world.

Well, what say you, Mr Tongue?

Zounds, says the linguist, there is more extasy in speaking three soft words of Mr Heart’s suggesting than whole orations of Signior Head’s so I am for the lady, and here’s my honest neighbor, Lips, will stick to’t.

By the sweet power of kisses, that we will, (replied the lips) and presently some other worthy members standing up for the Heart, they laid violent hands (nemine contradicente) on poor Head, and knocked out his brains. So now, madam, behold me, as perfect a lover as any in Christendom, my heart firmly dictating every word I say. The little rebel throws itself into your pwoer, and if you don’t support it in the cause it has taken up for your sake, think what will be the condition of the headless and heartless.

"Your name?" Jack said to the Yeoman Warder.
"Clooney! And whatever it is you want--"
"Why, Yeoman Clooney, you make it sound as if i am some sort of nefarious villain. All I want is for you to be my boon companion these next several minutes, and to survive the night in good health."
"I should not love you be your companion for any length of time."
"Then I shall remind you that I am, in truth, a nefarious villain. You may follow me on your own two feet, or I shall have Russolnik put a leash around your neck and drag you up the stairs on your beef-stuffed belly."

Life was not a valuable gift, but death was. Life was a fever-dream made up of joys embittered by sorrows, pleasure poisoned by pain; a dream that was a nightmare-confusion of spasmodic and fleeting delights, ecstasies, exultations, happinesses, interspersed with long-drawn miseries, griefs, perils, horrors, disappointments, defeats, humiliations, and despairs--the heaviest curse devisable by divine ingenuity; but death was sweet, death was gentle, death was kind; death healed the bruised spirit and the broken heart, and gave them rest and forgetfulness; death was man's best friend; when man could endure life no longer, death came and set him free.

- Mark Twain

Those who consider the Devil to be a partisan of Evil and angels to be warriors for Good accept the demagogy of the angels. Things are clearly more complicated.

“Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there-on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot.

Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.

The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.

It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.”

For God's sake hold your tongue, and let me love;
Or chide my palsy, or my gout;
My five gray hairs, or ruin'd fortune flout;
With wealth your state, your mind with arts improve;
Take you a course, get you a place,
Observe his Honour, or his Grace;
Or the king's real, or his stamp'd face
Contemplate; what you will, approve,
So you will let me love.

Alas ! alas ! who's injured by my love?
What merchant's ships have my sighs drown'd?
Who says my tears have overflow'd his ground?
When did my colds a forward spring remove?
When did the heats which my veins fill
Add one more to the plaguy bill?
Soldiers find wars, and lawyers find out still
Litigious men, which quarrels move,
Though she and I do love.

Call's what you will, we are made such by love;
Call her one, me another fly,
We're tapers too, and at our own cost die,
And we in us find th' eagle and the dove.
The phoenix riddle hath more wit
By us; we two being one, are it;
So, to one neutral thing both sexes fit.
We die and rise the same, and prove
Mysterious by this love.

We can die by it, if not live by love,
And if unfit for tomb or hearse
Our legend be, it will be fit for verse;
And if no piece of chronicle we prove,
We'll build in sonnets pretty rooms;
As well a well-wrought urn becomes
The greatest ashes, as half-acre tombs,
And by these hymns, all shall approve
Us canonized for love;

And thus invoke us, "You, whom reverend love
Made one another's hermitage;
You, to whom love was peace, that now is rage;
Who did the whole world's soul contract, and drove
Into the glasses of your eyes;
So made such mirrors, and such spies,
That they did all to you epitomize—
Countries, towns, courts beg from above
A pattern of your love."

-The Canonization by John Donne

One from the pitiless wave?

The name that can be named is not the eternal name
The nameless is the origin of Heaven and Earth
The named is the mother of myriad things

Constantly with desire, one observes its manifestations

A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth.

2 O Lord, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.

3 God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise.

4 And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power.

5 Before him went the pestilence, and burning coals went forth at his feet.

6 He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways are everlasting.

7 I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction: and the curtains of the land of Midian did tremble.

8 Was the Lord displeased against the rivers? was thine anger against the rivers? was thy wrath against the sea, that thou didst ride upon thine horses and thy chariots of salvation?

9 Thy bow was made quite naked, according to the oaths of the tribes, even thy word. Selah. Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers.

10 The mountains saw thee, and they trembled: the overflowing of the water passed by: the deep uttered his voice, and lifted up his hands on high.

11 The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went, and at the shining of thy glittering spear.

12 Thou didst march through the land in indignation, thou didst thresh the heathen in anger.

13 Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah.

14 Thou didst strike through with his staves the head of his villages: they came out as a whirlwind to scatter me: their rejoicing was as to devour the poor secretly.

15 Thou didst walk through the sea with thine horses, through the heap of great waters.

16 When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops.

17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:

18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

19 The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

This living hand, now warm and capable
Of earnest grasping, would, if it were cold
And in the icy silence of the tomb,
So haunt thy days and chill thy dreaming nights
That thou would wish thine own heart dry of blood
So in my veins red life might stream again,
And thou be conscience-calm’d–see here it is–
I hold it towards you.

Then we died in the valley, died in the swamp,
on the banks of the river where the whitetail jumped.
Died in the ditches, died in the fields,
in the belly of the wagons where our wounds were healed.
Died in the wards, starved in the camps,
locked in the prisons so mean and rank.
Spilled our blood in the fight to defend,
and they buried us all over Dixieland!

Down in Alabama, down in Caroline,
way down in Georgie on the Tennessee line.
We fought for the rebels of Robert E. Lee,
now we wanna go home to Virginia,
said we wanna go home to Virginia,

Won't you carry me back? Won't you carry me back?
Carry me back to Virginia.
Won't you carry me back? Won't you carry me back?
I wanna be buried in Virginia.

-Old Crow Medicine Show

Stretch out my life, and pick the seams out,
take what you like, but close my ears and eyes,
a-watch me stumble over and over.

I had done wrong, you build your tower,
but call me home, and I will build a throne,
and wash my eyes out never again.

But love the one you hold, and I'll be your goal,
to have and to hold, a lover of the light.

I did this thread wrong at first. Let me fix my mistake.

So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion;respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.

Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none.

When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Long days have made us numb
I don't know where you're coming from
I can't look you in the eye
I am just a passerby

What if I knew your name?
What if we had the same home room?
What if the things that tie us are stronger than we knew?
What if we'd shared a pint?
What if we cheered the same team?
What if these moments between us mean more than we could dream?
Would I have grace for you and you for me?

I am just a passerby

It's quite easy to prove that numbers are indeed words. See, words are composed of letters. Observe the composition of the following 'numbers': one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. As you can see, those are indeed words as they are composed of letters, therefore your concept of numbers is a fallacy.

Anything by Keats.

This is just the first thing I came across.

The First Stanza Of "Endymion"

A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.
Therefore, on every morrow, are we wreathing
A flowery band to bind us to the earth,
Spite of despondence, of the inhuman dearth
Of noble natures, of the gloomy days,
Of all the unhealthy and o'er-darkened ways
Made for our searching: yes, in spite of all,
Some shape of beauty moves away the pall
From our dark spirits. Such the sun, the moon,
Trees old and young, sprouting a shady boon
For simple sheep; and such are daffodils
With the green world they live in; and clear rills
That for themselves a cooling covert make
'Gainst the hot season; the mid forest brake,
Rich with a sprinkling of fair musk-rose blooms:
And such too is the grandeur of the dooms
We have imagined for the mighty dead;
All lovely tales that we have heard or read:
An endless fountain of immortal drink,
Pouring unto us from the heaven's brink.

stick the skin
where the art won't fade
my dreams and nightmares on parade
I desecrate domesticated flesh
a harlots paint or a warriors paint
or any ink beneath the skin
each one as beautiful as all my sins
described and documented
in technicolor or old blue-black
up my arms, across my back
each image buried layers down
the reaper or the clown
shines out from underneath
and all can see my story at a glance
the cost is just an ounce or two of pain
and then it fades
and only ink remains.

When you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world makes you king for a day
Just go to the mirror and look at yourself
And see what that man has to say.

For it isn’t your father, or mother, or wife*
Whose judgment upon you must pass
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass.

He’s the fellow to please – never mind all the rest
For he’s with you, clear to the end
And you’ve passed your most difficult, dangerous test
If the man in the glass is your friend.

You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years
And get pats on the back as you pass
But your final reward will be heartache and tears
If you’ve cheated the man in the glass.*

"I know."
"He expected it," Nancy said. "Accepted it, even. They have to, all those boys do. I sound sanguine, I know," she continued quietly, "but my heart is split in two. I loved him so much. Love him so much. I don't know why I use the past tense. It's not as if love dies with the beloved. I love him more now because I feel so damn sorry for him. He'll never marry, never have children, never have the wonderful life that was his birthright. Not all this," she said, waving a hand around to indicate Fox Corner, the middle class, England in general, "but because he was such a good man. Sound and true, like a great bell, I think." She laughed. "Silly, I know. I know you're the one that understands. And I can't cry, I don't even want to cry. My tears would never do justice to this loss."

Do you hear the people sing? lost in the valley of the night
it is the music of a people who are climbing to the light.

For the wretched of the earth there is a flame that never dies:
even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.

They will live again in freedom in the garden of the Lord,
they will walk behind the plowshare, they will put away the sword,
the chain will be broken and all men will have their reward.

Will you join in our crusade? Who will be strong and stand with me?
Somewhere beyond the barricade is there a world you long to see?
Do you hear the people sing? Say, do you hear the distant drums?
It is the future that they bring when tomorrow comes.

It is the 41st Millenium. For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor has sat immobile
on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the master of mankind by the will of the gods, and
master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass
writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the
Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, so that he may never truly die.

Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Might battlefleets
cross the daemon-infested miasma of the warp, the only route between distant stars, their
way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies
give battle in his name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus
Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super warriors. Their comrades in arms are
legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever-vigilant
Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But
for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from aliens,
heretics, mutants and worse.

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruellest
and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power
of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget
the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There
is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter and the laughter
of thirsting gods.

Dude, I don't know. It seems like one of those topics that would be fun to write about and discover unique things about that era along the way. For instance, how common were cellars where Mr. Poe lived? What were the cellars used for? What idioms of the time were in usage that involved the phrase Cellar Door? I'm sure I could dig up a dozen essays to more eloquently explain these variables. I'm feeling lazy right now so I'll leave it for another time but hopefully you get my drift. Alan Seeger Op. 1 No. 121

I HAVE a rendezvous with Death
At some disputed barricade,
When Spring comes back with rustling shade
And apple-blossoms fill the air—
I have a rendezvous with Death 5
When Spring brings back blue days and fair.

It may be he shall take my hand
And lead me into his dark land
And close my eyes and quench my breath—
It may be I shall pass him still. 10
I have a rendezvous with Death
On some scarred slope of battered hill,
When Spring comes round again this year
And the first meadow-flowers appear.

God knows 'twere better to be deep 15
Pillowed in silk and scented down,
Where love throbs out in blissful sleep,
Pulse nigh to pulse, and breath to breath,
Where hushed awakenings are dear...
But I've a rendezvous with Death 20
At midnight in some flaming town,
When Spring trips north again this year,
And I to my pledged word am true,
I shall not fail that rendezvous.

Allegedly JFK (Ret.) liked to hear his wife recite this.

Long Nights Lunacy - (http://hellopoetry.com/words/sycophant-/poems/)

Unthinkable, that thought:
staying indoors tonight,
scorning a splendorous sight—

even those now deaf to
starlight’s siren song
still track into the streets
the silver scent of
Earth’s salacious satellite.

Truth-starved specters
shed skins of pseudo-sanity:
we’re lunatic exhibitionists
modeling madness, fools falling victim to
a sparkling sycophant...

and we'll be laughing about how we used to smoke all those
stupid little cigarettes and drink stupid wine
'cuz it's what we needed to have a good time,

but it was fun, fun, fun... when we were drinking,
it was fun, fun, fun... when we were drunk
and it was fun, fun, fun... when we were laughing,
it was fun, fun, fun... oh it was fun.

Recoil -- Want. (http://youtu.be/QQrGRR6Su4E)

I want to know how it'll end
I want to be sure of what it'll cost
I want to strangle the stars for all they promised me
I want you to call me on your drug phone
I want to keep you alive so there is always the possibility of murder later
I want to be there when you learn the cost of desire
I want you to understand that my malevolence is just a way to win
I want the name of the ruiner
I want matches in case I have to suddenly burn
I want you to know that being kind is overrated
I want to write my secret across your sky
I want to watch you lose control
I want to watch you lose
I want to know exactly what it's going to take
I want to see you insert yourself into glory
I want your touches to scar me so I'll know where you've been
I want you to watch when I go down in flames
I want a list of atrocities done in your name
I want to reach my hand into the dark and feel what reaches back
I want to remember when my nightmares were clearer
I want to be there when your hot black rage rips wide open
I want to taste my own kind
I want to be wrapped in cold wet sheets to see if it's different on this side
I want you to come on strong
I want to leave you out in the cold
I want the exact same thing... but different
I want some soft drugs.. some soft, soft drugs
I want to throw you
I want you to know I know
I want to know if you read me
I want to swing with my eyes shut and see what I hit
I want to know just how much you hate me so I can predict what you'll do
I want you to know the wounds are self-inflicted
I want a controlling interest
I want to be somewhere beautiful when I die
I want to be your secret hater
I want to stop destroying you but I can't
And I want and I want and I want
And I will always be hungry
And I want and I want and I want...

The highway's jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive,
everybody's out on the run tonight but there's no place left to hide.

Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run

.

Sometimes in the morning I am petrified and can't move,
awake but cannot open my eyes,
and the weight is crushing down upon my lungs, I know I can't breathe
and hope someone will save me this time,

and your mother's still calling you insane and high,
swearing it's different this time,
and you tell her to give in to the demons that possess her
that God never blessed her insides,

and you hang up the phone and feel badly for upsetting things,
crawl back into bed to dream of a time
when your heart was open wide and you loved things just because,
like the sick and the dying...

aspen by simone (http://hellopoetry.com/poem/aspen/)

There is nothing to syphen from my roots
like an aspen tree, i am deciduous and bare
eating my teeth, and I am embarrassed to be a tree
I am just a leaf that always leaves with the breeze
I am just a thief that always purges you clean
alcohol by night and salt by morning

Leaves you deep in the forest
With a burning cigarette at our feet
None of the animals will be able to breathe
and i will burst up in flames
as the pine needles begin to steam
i will ask you your name
with the same eyes as the first time you met me

after the first forest fire breaks free
i will fall to flaming embers
they left in me. when all my love burns out
I will bury the seeds of loathing and doubt
And let a new seedling sprout from the mire
so please rain on me because it's a thirsty thing
to be a guilty liar, to lie there waiting for spring

Felony is effortlessly sweet, like mary my soils will wash your feet
i can hold your hand and i can swear I’m devout but maybe
Not for the things you expect and want me to be
But then again you never
Heard me out
so how were you to know such things

unless you had sunken into me for years
you wouldn't have even seen me unfold
to be what i have come to be
you see none of that
Just drink the sweet sap from my bark
Let me be I’ll let you be
but i don't care really, i am stark
i am learning that silence is
a byzantine art

I will go and be free
i will find time to mend your broken knee
And be on my way within the day
The analgesia will feel like a painful heave
but it crumbles into a catatonic comatose sea
when the shores of nighttime reach me

The love will not feel at all
my branches will be sore but i'm more concerned
with your condition after you fall
into the foaming meelee of chances swarthed beneath
i feel your pulse from down on the ground at my feet
in the knots of my trunk, achy knocking knees,
each frustrated knot tied into the fabric of exorbitance,
freezes my itches to an earsplitting pitch
how much can i be for others when i'm unsure
of what i was supposed to be to begin with
all i know is that i was a sapling once
so long ago i barely remember
see
all i am is me

There's a time for love and a time for living
You take a chance and face the wind
An open road and a road that's hidden
A brand new life around the bend
There were times when I lost a dream or two
Found a trail and at the end was you
There's a path you take and a path untaken
The choice is up to you my friend
Nights are long but you're on your way
To a brand new life
Brand new life
Brand new life around the bend

Suddenly there was this huge mechanical failure and one of the engines gave out, and they started just falling thirty thousand feet, the pilot's on the microphone and he's saying "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, oh my God, I'm sorry," and apologizing, and she looks at the man and she says, she says, she says, "Where are we going?" ...and he looks at her... and he says, "We're going to a party! When the night takes a deep breath
and the daylight has no air...
If I crawl, if I come crawling home,
will you be there?

A man dreams one day to fly,
a man takes a rocketship into the sky.
He lives on a star that's dying in the night
and follows in the trail, the scatter of light.

Slow down my beating heart...
slowly, slowly love.
Slow down my beating heart...
slowly, slowly love.
Slow down my beating heart...
slowly, slowly love.

such a beautiful song, but I still can't listen to it all the way through. I put it on for my brother, Joey, and - as I wrote to Bono and the band that week- a few seconds after the song ended...he was gone, He went with it, i thought, to that place songs go after they're played -- wherever that is. I miss him so much

“There sit two lovers
One’s eyes intently chasing the other’s
She doesn’t love him anymore
But he’ll stick it out till the end
This he had sworn
Lying awake in bed
Feeling the spot on my chest
Where you used to rest your head
You see love’s a funny thing the way it lingers in the mind
No matter what you do or the passing of time
That ember still glows for those lovers behind
No matter if it’s well remembered
That light still shines
Good times take precedent over every incident
No matter how poorly spent
So we put on these ridiculous fronts
Like we were just fooling around
Our love was only childish fun
Yet we know different
That it meant something to us
And that piece still lingers in each one that we’ve loved
So we pick up the pieces
Try and make a half a whole
But in the back of our minds
There’s quite a different story to be told
That Love has kissed our lips
That Love has touched our eyes
And no matter how sincere
Love has changed our lives
And even if all love has flown
We’ll have a few scars to proudly show
Cause at the end of our lives
We can say, ‘At least we tried’
Lying awake in bed
Feeling the spot on my chest
Where you used to rest your head”
