I followed the download instructions for lich, as in the past but it won't start the game.
I get the lich interface, I can connect, select character but nothing happens when I hit play.

Help?

Have you launched the game once from the website?

Are you running Windows 8?

Windows 7 and yep, I've been in game. Still no lich action.

What does lich\temp\debug-#.txt say?

Looks like you've checked the checkbox for a custom launch command, but not entered a custom launch command. So, it's trying to execute "(enter custom launch command)", which is likely not an executable file. Just uncheck that checkbox.

I made sure the box was unchecked and still can't connect. I got this one....

Yes. You need to run it as admin.

Before trying anything, I'd just copy the entire lich folder from your old computer, and overwrite the new folder on he new computer, with it. This will carry over your settings and scripts.

Also, I assume you installed SGE?

I'm back in business! Thanks folks. I had to reset some things.

So I just got a windows 8 desktop and lich won't start up. I can run with SF from the web entry. I tried to use the install tab and restart as an admin but still no dice. My debug file shows:

info: Sat Apr 13 18:59:51 -0500 2013
info: Lich 4.4.9
info: Ruby 1.8.7
info: i386-mingw32
info: $lich_dir: C:/lich/
info: $script_dir: C:/lich/scripts/
info: $data_dir: C:/lich/data/
info: $temp_dir: C:/lich/temp/
info: HAVE_GTK: true
info: no launch file given
info: no force-mode info given
info: gamehost: storm.gs4.game.play.net
info: gameport: 10024
info: game: STORM
info: launcher_cmd: "C:\PROGRA~2\SIMU\Launcher.exe" C:\lich\temp\lich4638.sal
info: waiting for client to connect...

but i times out and the file lich4638.sal gets deleted. Any ideas?

Thanks

I'm trying to run the lich script as admin but am unable to do it from a shortcut on the windows 8 desktop. I'm going to try and run rubyw from command line with runas to get it going but i'm thinking there is a better way
