I figured there are enough gun enthusiasts on the forum that someone might know someone or have resources available that we just don't have.

I belong to a gun club that sponsors 50 youth every year for our juniors program. We invite them out the range, teach them how to shoot, and then invite similar groups to do competitions at our range.

Now normally we order .22lr in 100,000 lots direct from Federal and we shoot through ~60,000 rounds per year. However this year we have not been able to purchase any so we have the ~40,000 rounds left over from last year and are ~25,000 rounds short. Federal told us 6 months for delivery and that would put us past the end of the season.

Members have been going to local shops and gun shows but we have not been able to find the ammunition we are looking for. We found tracers or really old rusty ammo boxes where the rounds were just not taken care of and of course people want premo pricing.

So, what I am looking for is large blocks of .22lr and if you have a less than 5% fail rate we would take "seconds" if you have a hook up for those.

Please send me the amount you are willing to sell and your price per 100/1000 and when I go to the next meeting on 3/19 I can ask if the club will purchase the ammo from you. We are not looking for charity beyond not paying $10 per 100.

Thanks for looking/checking for me.

Have you checked auction sites like Gunbroker.com?

We have, however the board will not authorize purchases from auction sites. So basically what I would have to do is front the club the cash and pay someone and then they would reimburse me. I have been a member here since I was uh 7 or 8 years old so I don't want to jeopardize that buy buying from an auction place.

Have you tried driving up to Cabela's? They advertise it now and again for bulk purchase. To them, bulk is 2000 rounds.

There's a season for shooting paper targets?

Kidding of course, but why is .22 ammo so scarce? I'm curious...

We have and they never have it in stock by the time you get there. Its like a fake advertisement to get people in the door.

For those who asked: http://www.grrc.org/ crappy little site but it gets the general job done.
