The look.
This fearsome black katana is etched with sinister crimson runes covering the length of the weapon. The intricate edge of urglaes has been lightly buffed and honed to be razor sharp A viciously sharpened barbed urglaes wire has been formed around the handle as more a defensive aid than decoration. You also notice a small enchanter's glyph.

I think at one point they were, but at some point most flares got kinda homogenized in terms of power. Hard to tell if that's the case here without some testing.

I'm pretty sure you are correct. Critter specific resistances asides I'm pretty sure most flares have the same damage ranges.

It goes purely off the noun as far as I can tell, so it should.

I have wondered about that myself. If anyone in the landing or FWI has one of those sashes I can test it out.

I altered something from a wakizashi into a different noun once and it no longer worked in the sash. I assisted and the GM implied that it was based on the noun.
