This was hand-given to a select group of players who could communicate on a private net (this function still works) and in pairs you could arrest other players for various crimes. The system was dismantled quite some time ago. I am going to take bids on this here and sell it fairly quickly. Opening bid is 250,000. Will set a buy-out of 5m

CB is 500k to Shaft. And there were rumors of some deputies abusing power, of course these complaints were by people arrested (it took TWO deputies to make an arrest which is why the star brought up a seperate private network to communicate). It was a bit subjective but it did help clean things up a bit and most of the deputies (and there werent many) were well known respected players. I generally just arrested people for disturbing the peace, afterall I do need my peace.

From a practical perspective, today they either function as a crystal amulet, or they're broken and stopped working in that regard too. Mine just stopped working one day and I never bothered to try to get it fixed, yet Arwen's continues to function as an unlimited crystal amulet.

It wasnt so much that it was abused since I do not think that was the case ( keep in mind a SINGLE person couldnt arrest without another deputy confirming), I think it was more the perception of abuse combined with the distaste of players in the game having control over other players. It also ended up taking up GM time since, as was stated earlier, many arrests would result in report and assists to GM's about why they were falsely arrested or imprisoned.

I took Rozak's post of "I don't know where to put it" to be a joke, I thought it was funny, mine was a joke in kind meant to be lighthearted and not tear anyone a new one. Yesterday I said I felt bad that the thread had derailed so far off, I'm not sure why you would think I'm being passive aggressive now.
