Don't warding spells require a roll of at least 101 to affect the taget?

Why the heck did this cast of 915 with and end roll of 100 cause my death? I wasn't warded by anything prior to this cast.

A bent being cries out in an acidic tongue, pointing at you!
CS: +343 - TD: +262 + CvA: -19 + d100: +33 - -5 == +100
Warded off!
Your battle axe is struck with a bent being's cast.

You are now in an offensive stance.
mstrike
You concentrate intently, focusing all your energies.
With instinctive motions, you weave to and fro striking with deliberate and unrelenting fury!
You swing a chrome battle axe at a festering taint!
AS: +448 vs DS: +315 with AvD: +36 + d100 roll: +45 = +214
... and hit for 94 points of damage!
Awesome slash severs the festering taint's right arm!
A jagged stump is all that remains!
The festering taint stares blankly at its severed right arm.
The festering taint is stunned!
The scintillating silver light surrounding the axe fades some.
You swing a chrome battle axe at a bent being!
AS: +448 vs DS: +284 with AvD: +37 + d100 roll: +81 = +282
... and hit for 116 points of damage!
Crossing slash to chest catches the bent being's attention!
The bent being is stunned!
The scintillating silver light surrounding the axe fades some.
You swing a chrome battle axe at a festering taint!
AS: +448 vs DS: +348 with AvD: +36 + d100 roll: +59 = +195
... and hit for 90 points of damage!
Hard slash to the festering taint's side opens its spleen!
The festering taint is stunned!
The scintillating silver light surrounding the axe fades some.
You swing a chrome battle axe at a bent being!
AS: +448 vs DS: +205 with AvD: +37 + d100 roll: +68 = +348
... and hit for 139 points of damage!
Deep slash to the bent being's left forearm!
The bent being is stunned!
The scintillating silver light surrounding the axe fades some.

Your flurry of strikes leaves you off-balance and out of position.
Roundtime: 19 sec.

A searing bolt of lightning leaps from a chrome battle axe in your right hand.
... 60 points of damage!
Electric shock causes a strong enough convulsion to snap your neck.
You feel the extra courage wane.

It seems you have died, my friend. Although you cannot do anything, you are keenly aware of what is going on around you...

You mentally give a sigh of relief as you remember that the Goddess Lorminstra owes you a favor.

...departing in 13 mins...

its a programming bug...

I had it happen before... assist and they should give you back your deed and 1k experience...

had it happen in fire mages myself...

100 roll and it still hit me with it...

I think that was on the official boards.

Certain spells are taking effect at 100 on the spot.

Not sure if anyone knows why its happening.

I died three times recently.... Two garrotes... and this.... How's this a lot? Sometimes I go weeks without dying at all, sometimes I die a few times within one week(like this week). I don't see the problem(besides bugs like this one).

Besides, there's only one other hunting ground to move too, the rift. And I hate pinefar icemule, etc. So, no. ;)

Edited: Also, the last time I died before those three deaths was from drowning. I guess it's not such a good idea to try to swim while missing an arm.

Hmmm.... I could hit festering taints then, but if they cast looks like I'm fucked.

Gremlocks on the other hand... they're a pain. I have to make sure they're in offensive stance and usually on the floor to get good hit's on them. I have an easer time hitting a war griffen than I do a gremlock.

A shaft of scintillating light suddenly pierces the ceiling and strikes the ground next to you. The beam of light then explodes in a shower of sparks and Stealth is standing in its place.

Stealth waves to you.

Stealth rubs his chin thoughtfully.

[Leaving rest mode.]

Stealth alter Jonty's platemail into a cute little sundress with pink bows.

bab
Babbling again, eh?

'sorry
You say, "Sorry."

Stealth whistles tunelessly to himself.

greet stea
You nod to Stealth in greeting.

'good evening
You say, "Good evening."

You have just been awarded 1000 experience points.

chuc
You chuckle.

Stealth asks, "All set?"

'hwo about a deed?
You ask, "Hwo about a deed?"

grin
You grin.

Stealth says, "I gave you two."

'ahh
You say, "Ahh."

bow ste
You bow to Stealth.

'much thanks
You say, "Much thanks."

Stealth mimes raising a glass and gives a toast to your health.

sal stea
You mime raising a glass and give a toast to Stealth's health.

*** GameMaster Stealth Moonhunter is here to answer your referral. ***

chuck
You chuckle.

Stealth says, "Let's cover the formalities there."

Stealth whistles tunelessly to himself.

Stealth waves to you.

wave stea
You wave to Stealth.

'thanks again
You say, "Thanks again."

Stealth asks, "That spell sucks don't it?"

Stealth says, "I really detest it."

'yeah, confused the heck outta me
You say, "Yeah, confused the heck outta me."

Stealth says, "And dying to a 100 is the worst."

Stealth says, "For what it's worth I think it is a feature."

nod
You nod.

Stealth shrugs.

'I would have dropped it...
You say, "I would have dropped it..."

'but I thought I was alright
You say, "But I thought I was alright."

Stealth says, "But I hate the spell and the feature."

Stealth grins.

grin
You grin.

Stealth exclaims, "So you win!"

chuc
You chuckle.

Stealth waves to you.

wave stea
'take care

You wave to Stealth.

You say, "Take care."

Stealth gestures and a shaft of scintillating light from somewhere above pierces the ceiling and engulfs him. When the light recedes Stealth is no longer there.

I hope he really wasn't serious about it being a "feature"....

Uska (I think) fiddled around with dodge DS for some things. Which happens to include gremlocks.

I've ambushed them seconds after they attacked, to be greeted sometimed with a 420+ DS. Ambush. And their lowest base DS seems to be 363.

Are you able to get a DS push down on them while they're in stance defensive? I haven't been able to at all.

Fuck. I just got kicked off, but there was one more where I ambushed one to see a DS of around 435, and then ambushed again to drop it to 381.

There are two rolls involved with that spell. It only takes a 100 roll to trigger the second hidden roll. Even if you roll over a 100 you still have a chance to miss on the hidden roll. I believe this information to be true, but I could be wrong, but I don't think I am. Thank you. Stay classy.

Either way it's dumb because:

1.) Every other CS based attack spell hat I know of requires a 101 roll to affect the target.

2.) It said I warded it off....

Assuming you're in the northern aqueduct, beings actually have the heaviest armor of all the critters there. And gremlocks were alot easier a month or two ago before the messed with all critters DS/dodging calculations.

Never seemed like they have the heaviest armor. Seems I so way more damage to them than any other critter there. In anycase, I'll test them out next hunt to make sure for myself.

Alright, I just tested all three critters in the northern aqueduct. Yes, you are correct; the beings do have the highest AsG in that area. They have the equivalent of AsG 12, brigandine, while the other two critters have the equivalent of AsG 8, double leather.

Now, I also tested the DFs of my battle axe against all three critters. And even though the beings have the highest AsG of the three critters in that area, the DF of my battle axe is .25 points higher on scale class armor than it is against leather class armor. That explains why they seem the softest to me.
