Some of these videos are insane, one has sonic booms and explosions continuing well over a minute after the first one is heard
one carcam has a straight on shot of the flare, its incredibly bright.

It's a precursor to 2012 DA14.

Latest update: the European Space Agency says (https://twitter.com/esaoperations/status/302334765812572160) their experts "confirm there is nolink between the meteor incidents in Russia and asteroid 2012DA14 flyby tonight".

Quite Awesome. Especially the delay and when the sound wave hits.

Well of course they're going to say that. They don't want to cause a mass panic ;)

According to unconfirmed reports, the meteorite was intercepted by an air defense unit at the Urzhumka settlement near Chelyabinsk. A missile salvo blew the meteorite to pieces at an altitude of 20 kilometers, local newspaper Znak reports quoting a source in the military.

Pretty impressive. A huge meteorite blew up in the sky pretty much right over them and not one person crashed their car. What exactly are they used to over there in Russia? Pretty sure I would have shit myself.

I'd have drove to the side of the road, and ducked and covered, because that shit looked like a nuke was going off in a lot of those videos.

At that range if it was a nuke you'd better off bending over and kissing your ass goodbye.

Honestly, I'd get my gun out and open fire on the shockwave. It would then die and I'd get all the bitches.

Per one of my favorite action movies, a lot of people in Russia are going to need a "shit load of screen doors," after that sounds shockwave. Yippee Ki Yay.

If we all had meteorites, we could protect against this sort of intergalactic aggression.

I disagree. If we outlawed meteorites on Earth, they'd stop crashing into the planet.

For some reason I read the title of this thread as "Meteorite sexplodes over Russia." That would have been a much more interesting topic.

Probably would've been more injuries, too. Grosser injuries. (yep, grosser).
