Hi everyone;

Just rolled up a cleric, still in the first 30, and still trying to determine overall training path. Planning on a Smite + Spell aiming. Of course, joining the clergy from being a wizard, so my view on lores is fairly low. However, clerical lores seem pretty potent.

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on the timing and emphasis to be putting on lore training. Most of Krakii emphasizes that CS is still key, and coming from being a mage, spell training always seemed to trump lores.

What lores should I get? When should I get them? When are lores worth more than tripling in spells? I know it's completely subjective in nature, but I don't have a good point of reference.

Thanks for your help.

You can see the benefits of training in each lore on krakiipedia:

Most Clerics get lore for one reason: chrisms. You need 10 ranks of Blessings, 15 ranks of Summoning, 25 ranks of Religion so usually people get that first. As soon as you get that, you'll be able to make chrisms that restore 50% of experience (+5% more if you grab one more rank of Blessings). Note that it's a pretty long grind to making "perfect" chrisms...you'll need 65 ranks of Blessings.

Other than that, Religion is the most useful for me...and likely you, since you say you'll be using Smite. Religion lore increases damage with 302, 312, and 317. So maybe grab those 25 ranks of Religion first.

Blessing lore is pretty dope.

I'm a believer in true religion. I have 100 including enhancives.

Yeah for a smite build I'd go with religion up to 25, then branch out into what you need for chrisms down the road. Spell aiming is attractive but I decided to go +21 cleric base instead for the extra CS with my Bane cleric. Its made a huge difference hunting, at 25 he can can effectively hunt undead with 312/317 (non crittable/crittable) due to his increased CS. With the living he just spams 302 mostly. Of course for you it'd be the opposite.

He's way behind on minor/major spirit spells but he's finally catching up. He's 1x in religion lore, I think I'll just keep pumping it up to 40 and buy chrisms.

Here's what I've got:

Spiritual Lore - Blessings.........| 180 80
Spiritual Lore - Religion...........| 162 62
Spiritual Lore - Summoning......| 160 60

I stopped at 80 in Blessings because that's a good threshold for the extra benefit to 203, 215, and 219 (which I rarely use). It helps with several other things, of course, but 80 was a good number for me.

The 62 ranks in Religion was to fill in the 2x in lores.

I stopped at 60 in summoning for 116 and rescue purposes. Some go to 90, but if I'm in Icemule, and someone dies in the Nations, I don't need to see that far. It's not feasible for me to rescue them.

http://carabele.com/LoreBenefits.htm is an excellent resource for seeing the rank benefits.

Good luck!

So did you stay a full 2x lores from the start, or was rounding out to 2x lores a post cap thing?

Wondering if I should 1x, 1.5x, .5x, or whatever while below level 50 while concentrating on spell ranks.

Well, mine was all post 50's, but that was because I started in GS3, and then The Change happened and BOOM! we have lores and all this other weird stuff. My other cleric, however, uses a maul and 2x's lores. That one was able to make basic chrisms by mid 30's. If I were doing a whole new pure cleric, I would try to 2x spells, keeping cleric spells at level + 10, get 2x lores when possible. Maxing your CS is really a long term goal. My main cleric is 2x cap and still 35 spell ranks shy of 3x spells. She didn't go pure until about 52, though, when The Change happened.

Sounds good... I'll go ahead and plan for 2x spells, with the additional points used for increasing 1x to 2x lores!

My cleric is addicted to the extra CS, but yeah the extra lores open up some nice stuff :)

Seems the cleric class is the best at showcasing what lores can be. IMO anyway.

I think I'd back that. Maybe toss in some Ranger for some semi-lores.
