I'll admit it was pretty tough to get into Witcher 2, between the controls and the combat. I pushed though for a few hours though and once I got a hang of everything it just kicked so much ass. I really enjoy the fact that they are dead set on this being the very last Witcher game and how they plan to go balls out on everything.

The first two they were even a tiny game company from eastern Europe. They are a bit bigger now, but they are still independent so this game will be the same as the first two, but with more money put into it. So, bigger World, better AI, more attention to detail (which I have no idea how.) Think Skyrim, but waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better.

For the first Witcher I had a Laptop and played it on the USS Comstock. It wasn't a really good laptop. I don't remember what it was. A Toshiba I think. Pretty cheap. I suffered no lag or anything and had the game on max settings, so I don't know. Sassafras.

So far it's awesome. Writing is good, graphics great (everything on ultra), plenty of butts, 0 loading screens. The first dwarf you meet threw me off because he has the same voice actor as the WoW dwarf.

Well, there are some issues with storyline, canon, and continuity between the books which the game is based off of. The thing about Witcher 3 is that it is draws mainly from the novels. Some of the main plot characters (Ciri, Yennefer) aren't even in the first two games, or are only mentioned in passing. They're good games and all that, but beyond a slightly better general understanding of the world there really isn't a pressing reason to play them.

I haven't read any of the novels btw.

Keyboard and mouse. The combat takes a little use to get back used to, but it isn't bad. Make sure you are using the silver sword and not the steel one for those guys though.

You get it before the griffin fight. Hit tab and select it, then it is middle mouse. Hold to aim, release to fire.

I'm using a controller. Yeah, combat is pretty annoying at first. Try not to let any of them behind you and remember to parry. I'd actually recommend not using the lock-on feature.

Also, make sure to visit every question mark on the map. Bandit camps full of loot and equipment, powers nodes that give ability points, etc. They are all worth hitting. Also, don't sell anything. Break stuff down instead. The only thing I have found worth buying at merchants and such is schematics and gwent cards.

I think it is the best looking open-world game i've played to date, with perhaps Far Cry coming in at second. People are comparing it to non-sandbox games and IMO that isn't fair.

The game will be fairly highly moddable. If you've the time, GPU, and patience I think you'd be able to tweak Witcher 3 to look better than pretty much anything out there so far.

3 looks really good. God rays, shadows from passing clouds, vegetation bending in the wind (exception being Geralt's hair during cutscenes lol physx). Everything smooth as butter with no loading screens. It's a real accomplishment. The game should be a shot across the bow for Bioware that they NEED to hire a decent animator instead of coasting on the same set they've been using since Mass Effect.

They've said you'll be able to tweak ini files and I'm sure the mods will improve graphics even more.

I think a lot of it is the attention to detail too. I saw one part where a rabbit is just sitting there cleaning itself, it looked like a real video of a rabbit sitting there cleaning itself. Ear being pushed down and all that.

Most of them are probably too high level when you first arrive. I did a few of the main quests for the baron to get a few levels before I started exploring. I still run into things that are 'skull' to me at level 9. In particular, there's some kind of dragon thing just southeast of Crow's Perch. Make sure you're searching every nook, cranny, and mud farmer hut for supplies, always repair your items when you get a chance, and carry repair stuff with you, too.

It's a mixture of European folklore. Old crones living in swamps, kidnapping children for various reasons. I don't remember seeing an intercessor (Gran) character anywhere though, mostly the kids are eaten or whatever directly by the crone(s).

Weird. That's usually when in combat, or in a certain part in a plot, or if you're mid-jump or something.

That's what I thought it was for an hour or two. Completed two quests before I realized something was up, but restarting the game seemed to fix it. If it happens just try to finish up a quest or otherwise trigger an autosave I guess.

I haven't, I bought the second one on sale like 6 months ago but didn't like the controls there either. I had heard a lot of good things about it but having been out for like 4 years it didn't feel new either so I didn't get very far.

If they'd let me remap a controller it would help. Or let me keybind like a proper game...

Well, that is just it, there is no scaling. If you are too low to be in an area, you are too low. If you are too high, you'll destroy everything there no problem. I ended up being ridiculously too high level for most of the game because I'd do every quest and question mark.

In an objective sense, yes, the graphics are still pretty good. However, when they released video of the game when it was in development, it was a shit-ton prettier, but when it came out, both versions were basically reduced to the console version.
