In order:
1. The Beatles - SERIOUSLY. Whoever thinks they're overrated needs to listen to more (good) music.
2. The Clash - Enough said.
3. The White Stripes - Might seem out of place but I think they have great potential. Jack White's guitar playing is really creative.
4. The Misfits - Another oldie but goodie. It's an..acquired taste of music.
5. Rancid - One of the best modern punk bands.

Laugh/critique/praise my list or whatever. Now post yours.

In order:
1. VNV Nation - My introduction to good music, and I still  them.
2. KMFDM/MDFMK - The fathers of Industrial, worthy of adoration.
3. Wumpscut - I learned about it before I'd heard of VNV Nation, but I didn't start listening to them until afterwards. Great music.
4. Joy Division/The Smiths - I can't decide which. However, they both pwn in large portions.
5. E Nomine - Learned about them recently, so I've still got that 'Can't stop listening' thing going on. Very good music.

If you visit my FTP site, you'll notice that I have every Beatles album EVER. EVER. There isn't a single one I don't have. Whether you like them or not, they are the most influential group in modern history. 86 CD's in total.

Lennon is a genius with lyrics, McCartney with his very innovating walking bass, and Harrison with his melodic solo's.

I used to have a zip of all of their albums as well. Around 4 gigs. I can't believe I got rid of it.

I noticed you didn't mention Ringo, heh heh. The best combination is an acoustic guitar and McCartney's voice.

I love Ringo, he still tours with the All-Starr Band. He is my fourth favorite.

Too many awesome bands out there to concider favorites.

Listening to lots of Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Pain of Salvation, Franz Ferdinand, Pinback, Isis, Bumblefoot, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Queensryche, Primus, Frank Zappa, Coltrane, Mingus, Thursday, Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, Tool, King Crimson, Tortoise, John Zorn...could go on forever...blah

Latrinsorm

1) U2 (obviously)
2) Bruce Springsteen
3) Tom Waits
4) Avril Lavigne (she's getting better, honest!!!)
5) Bob Dylan (though I haven't heard a lot of his stuff, and a good portion of what I heard I don't like, some of it is totally awesome)
6) Simon and Garfunkel (they became like 90000x better when I grew up a little bit)
7) Norah Jones (like my perspective on Bob Dylan, except I've heard a lot of her stuff)

As for the Beatles, sure they have some excellent stuff, but most of it is not timelessly excellent. Innovation is great, but it doesn't make a band great forever. That being said, Yesterday is one of my favoritest songs evar.

Older Metallica
Megadeth
