I have decided to sell my shadowdeath quarterstaff. It is a fun weapon and is good for RP, but I'am using my claid more often these days.

It cycles from 4x to 5x depending on how much it has been sated by being waved at a creature. You must be in offensive stance and it can be waved twice and any living creature higher in level or 10 levels lower then you. The higher in level then you the creature is, the higher the flares will be from the quarterstaff.

Show = The haft of the staff is carved from petrified witchwood, the distinctive grain of the wood replaced by pale minerals but still flowing and sinuous. Much of the weapon's length is shod in thin rings of midnight-dark metal, the edges of which seem to drink light. Hazes of shadow about each length of metal twitch with a pulsing, rhythmic beat. A single ring of vaalin adorns the center of the quarterstaff, etched with a tangle of fruit-laden grape vines. You also notice a small enchanter's glyph.

Wave at creature Messaging =

Long tendrils of dark shadow leap from your banded black alloy quarterstaff , streaming towards hobbit as if they were hungry vipers lunging for their target! The shadowy tendrils strike out at the hobbit snapping, swarming, and whipping about the hobbit while tearing his life away!

I have only seen the weapon drain about 25 points at a time on waves, if the quarterstaff is saited it will say and then you can make the second wave at a target after it flares a bunch of times. You can also wave it at other players, i would ask before you do this. The flares on this weapon do flat HP damage, no criticals.

Note again this weapon can't drain health from undead only the living.

On flares I have seen the Quarterstaff drain up to 75 points of damage.

That is very cool. Wish I had the money for a bid.

Of note, you cannot wave it at NPCs, and the creatures/players have to be no more than 10 levels under you or higher... So at level 20 you can't wave it at a level 9 player/critter, but you can wave it at a level 100 player/critter. It is a nifty weapon, and I had fun with it when I owned it.

To clarify something, it has flat-damage flares (no wounds, crits, or stuns) that (when fully charged) trigger on every hit but gradually lose their frequency as charges drain, and you can only use the "wave" effect to charge it off of a single creature a limited number of times (I want to say 2, maybe 3) before it refuses to feed off that target anymore. Whether the strength of the flare relates to the amount of charges drained or the the amount of charge held hasn't been clear in my testing (I own a pair of SD bastard swords)

Thanks GoingGone, yes the flares do not do criticals, it is just Hit Points damage. Occassionally you can kill a creature using the wave attack, by sucking all there health

Would be badass if it worked as a runestaff... but definitely looks like a fun weapon.
