I don't know, with the way the economy is going and with the relatively stable value of the Gemstone silver currency, buying up GS silvers/items might be the best investment one can make right now.

There are people in China who play games like WoW for a living. They acquire game items and sell them for cash. It is more lucrative than farming which can provide an income of less than $1000/year.

I haven't heard of any such characters in GSIV, but maybe someone knows one.
