Training with Voln Fu viable?

I haven't played in almost a year, and I started back recently to see that voln fu has been changed from what it was when I left. What I wanted to see if that a halfling wizard/voln fu setup was still a viable path? I haven't messed with the new system too much, just wondering if anyone has some input on this,
