Anyone playing Path of Exile? Free to play game, diablo 2 style. I have a 42 char on HC league. If you die in HC your character goes to the default league so you can keep playing if you want. They have been having a few issues with DC but they have been resolving them pretty quick, usually it is during peak hours now. There is a que during peak hours, but it is quick even if the number is high.

Add me if you want to play on HC, Loyrl

I am playing it. It's in beta and it does crash or have some routine maintenance. It's a nice enough game so far. Similar to Diablo, yes. My char is only lvl 6 or 7.

I'm playing, but the screen shake even with the option toggled off makes me have a headache after about 30 minutes. Really love the gem and talent system though.

Seems interesting. I'll probably give it a shot.

Started playing this last night and I'm having fun with it so far. The skill/gem setup is pretty interesting and offers more variety than you'd see in D3, on top of which you can bind 8 skills. I also like the lack of pay-to-win microtransactions and coinless currency model. Something I haven't seen in other games that I think is pretty cool is the ability to purchase different skill animations. I kinda laughed when I saw the $1000 price tag on custom work, but I suppose they'll catch some fish. Kinda interested to see if people's custom work becomes available to the public or if it's unique to the buyer.

The flask system is also something I haven't seen before and is pretty neat. Flasks fill the role of traditional potions (hp, mp, speed, and probably others I have yet to find), but they aren't consumed on use and you can even find rare quality flasks that provide additional bonuses for the duration. Rather than being consumed, they have charges (most potions look to get 3-4 uses so far if you somehow manage to not recharge them) that refill as you kill things. They only gain charges while in your belt, which has 5 slots for them, and removing one to your inventory drains the charges it had. Another difference from traditional potions is that these tend to restore over 6 seconds (dunno if this changes any later, only level 14 now) rather than instantly, which allows for the other bonuses to have their limited effects. One of the ones I found last night has -25% MP restore (45mp over 6sec rather than base 60mp for this size flask), instant restore when at low health, and +67% armor for the flask duration.

Still playing. Not super far into it. Lvl 11 duelist and lvl 7 ranger. Ranged seems to be the way to go. The controls are lacking severely and I have a hard time clicking on targets with the mouse and end up burning through mana on wasted attacks. The graphics are decent. The treasure system seems to be very nice, though. Powers and the skill acquisition format is very nice. Reminds me of FF10 skill tree. They need to work on targeting for combat but otherwise combat is good but not great.

That said it's fun and new. I am enjoying it.

Anyone else still playing a game? Watched a demo video and it seems to look like everything D3 should have been and wasn't. Hopefully, as the beta continues some of the issues mentioned in the thread will be resolved.

How does it play? Any complaints? Any recommendations for starting out? Is there a hardcore mode?

It plays alright, there is some desync where mobs are not where they appear on the screen, and some skills will desync you but they are working on that. The skill tree is huge, and if you don't follow a build then you might have a rough time making your own. I died last night on my 49 onslaught character and stopped for the night. The game starts out a bit slow, because you don't have many skills, but it picks up. There are quite a few streamers on twitch.tv that stream maps, which is end game. You find maps in the third difficulty which is Merciless. Maps are random drops that you use in a device that opens up a portal to the map you have found. The maps have different properties added to the area that opens up. http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Maps

There are 2 hardcore modes, Hardcore, and Onslaught. If you die in either of these your character gets moved to default league. The difference between onslaught and hardcore is that onslaught has a few different items that can be obtained and a few items that can not be obtained. Along with monsters moving, casting, and attacking 20% faster. Onslaught is a league/ladder that is going to last 4 months.

There is no auction house, there is a trading channel though. Currency is confusing at first because they are items people use for crafting http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Currency . I would save your currency until you're a higher level for trading, or a good piece of armor that you find. Unless you like to go self found, then I would wait to use it for a good piece of armor around lvl 40.

Armor has colored gem sockets and links, the colored sockets can be changed with Chromatic Orbs, and armor can be re socketed with Fusings.

Skills are in the form of Gems, and there are support gems that support your skills. IE: Double strike = attacking twice, double strike linked with melee splash = Double strike also hitting mobs around your current target. Each gem has a color that must be put into a socket of the corresponding color. You can also have Double strike + melee splash + life gain on hit + faster attacks, which would double strike your target along with targets around it, gaining life on each hit and attacking faster. Support skills can also change the mana cost, or the damage of your skill gem. So you might attack faster, but it would also up your mana cost, and the gaining life on each hit ups the mana cost by 50% I think.

I recommend checking out exilepro.com and checking out some builds after you get used to playing.

I play this. Lost a little steam when anarchy/onslaught mode came out. They just announced descent races which look pretty awesome and I'm looking forward to that.
I play:
Infernal blow templar (level 65ish in standard, making new one in anarchy)
ele cleave shadow (49 in anarchy)
dual claw witch (64 in standard)
incinerate / fire trap marauder siege (trogdor_the__burninator!)
and various other level 40-50ish.

Bump for TX Drew. I haven't started playing as I'm not up to date with all the changes and don't want to waste my rerolls. :(

Bumping this thread.

I recently picked up Path of Exile, and honestly, I've become a bigger fan of it than I anticipated.

Unfortunately, there are no character respecs by design. So those refund points you pick up, that's for an individual skill, not the entire talent tree.

I'm not sure if it's really gonna hold up a three-four playthrough replayability that it boasts, as the level is quite slow afte ra while... but it's definitely enjoyable thus far.

I recommend playing your first character with the intent that you're just learning mechanics, gathering items / etc. anticipate rerolling it later on once you're more familiar with the latent skill tree, and know what you're going after.

LordWhirlin on Steam, if anyone is still actually playing it.

Ohh, and their ladder-esque 'leagues' resets are scheduled for the end of the month, coinciding with their 1.1 patch. So, that's the perfect time to swap back to a normal character from the domination ladder, or whatever, after learning the ropes.

Not bad. Hardcore isn't worth it if you have any Internet instability though.

I've started playing PoE again. The game has improved since the last time I played, with additional quests, events, and interesting new gem skills. This time around i'm playing as a Witch. My last attempt I wiped on Dominus final form in Hardcore. Here's hoping the third time is the charm.

Anyone else still playing?

You guys suck. I beat Normal on hardcore. Moving onto Cruel.

I played this game a bit... I didn't play hardcore or anything. Combined with the lag I was having during the period I played and my general level of skill I don't think I'd last long at all. I did beat it on normal and the end guy I think I must have died like 8 or 9 times to him and the 4 mini bosses with him hahaha

If I could beat it on Hardcore anyone can. I just made sure I had a good 10 levels on Dominus before I fought him and it was fine. Could have been in the clear at level 40 as opposed to 46. The trick is to have maxed resistances and a large health pool. You can always portal out to refill your flasks too.

I decided to restart as a summoner witch. It's fun to have 30 minions running around messing everything up.

It's not worth hardcore if you have unstable net. It's still fun.

I never got into it. The skill/talent system felt really bloated.

The talent tree is intimidating, but it's kinda like gemstone. If you try to plan 0 to cap it can be rough, but building out until normal difficulty is pretty straight forward.

I got to level 60 or so... and realized that I made some poor choices in talent selections... Just felt you were a little too locked into your talents, or couldn't get any of the specific build gems whatnots.

Not too long ago they refunded all passive points due to big updates (think fixskills) so if you were to jump back in you'd be able to rebuild.

I personally like that you can't just change your build on a whim. They've orbs of regret which I think is a good system, but i'm a masochist, I suppose.
