This is the most important thread I've ever made.

Edge.

That way if it ever happens I'll have telepathy and swag.

I can't remember the last time I flipped a coin.

I flipped a coin to answer the question. It came up heads. So I answered randomly.

My first reaction is always to call heads, but sometimes I switch that to tails just because the first reaction isn't always the right one and I start second-guessing. Other times I just stick with heads, so I picked the random choice option in the poll.

I try to catch the coin and say thanks when I pocket it

I don't flip coins. I just call high/low on a d4.

Drew

You carry a d4 around?

Probably more often than I carry coins.

Choose randomly? How do you choose randomly? Flip a coin prior to the coin flip to see what to call? AND THEN HOW DO YOU CALL THAT COIN FLIP!!! I am not going to follow this one down the rabbit hole, there's no end in sight!

This really depends on 2 things, the side the coin facing up when flipped, and if the person flips it after catching it.

Why?

Some people do just let the coin fall, or don't flip it over. But basically, I make the other person guess. My luck sucks so bad it would affect the outcome. (I have entered a raffle in GS with 5 pulls and 4 entrants.. and lost) -ok technically I lost cause I got booted from the game but still-

Hey, it's not my fault I have a face only a mother could love... well, not my mother, but I am sure there is one out there that could love it.

I blame it on my father, he won a look-a-like contest for Alfred E Neuman.

So I have to win them over with my amazing personality... and when that never works, I bake them cheesecake.

Nah, it's more of a joke actually. There was this comedian that said he used to ask girls out in HS, but they would say no. So to make himself feel better, he would just say Bahh you'll be fat in a year, and walk away.

I take it one step farther.

http://www-stat.stanford.edu/~cgates/PERSI/papers/headswithJ.pdfSo they demonstrate that physics applies to coins, which everyone always knows, and then they try to suggest a bias by gross approximation. A sample of 50 flips gave a mean of 0.5083 with a stdev above 0.01, and they just "round up" to 0.51? I am shocked that this paper is unpublished.

Well, that comment just lost you co-authorship on a paper I am submitting for review entitled "The influence of not being a co-author on this paper and being a raging douche."

WHAT is the movie, about baseball or something, where the dude, probably Morgan Freeman, flips a coin and then it just stays on the edge on the table? Players' Corner brainsquad attack.

You don't pay me enough to do a literature review.

Edit: I had already checked those damn results and it wasn't it. Something about baseball. I think it had John Candy in it. Er, scratch that. If I really can't find it or am not remembering correctly, I'll just go with Shaolin Soccer.

Something made for kids. I feel like it's Angels in the Outfield. Ooosh. Head hurts.

I call tails. Every. Fucking. Time. Because, dat ass. And, double headed coins are always just that... double-headed.

Tails, because dat ass.

But I like head, too!

As to actually flipping a coin, though, closest I get to doing that is when I fire up some Madden. Heads is the default option and ain't nobody got time for that, so I just press the button and select heads.

I call tails every single time. Fuck the science behind it, it works for me well over half the time. Other than sporting events, though, who the hell flips a coin to decide anything?
