Alright so I was fiddling with the idea of a sort of mechanist tinkerer person for a while and kept trying to bring myself to make a Nalfein for it. But I kept putting it off and then I was reminded of Jan from Baldur's Gate.

Jan is one of the more memorable and lovable characters from the series right after Minsc and Boo. His way of being easily distracted and telling meandering stories is hilarious.

Now my problem is trying to duplicate this with the same effect in Gemstone. He's a gnome tinkerer that just won't shut up if you get him going. And thats the problem... I swear I've typed more in the last two days than I would've in a few weeks of power hunting.

I actually tried to write a script with a whole slew of meandering tales I could just whip up. But thats part of the problem. Because I have to write them in advance, they don't have the nuances of any particular situation to help it out.

Are the canned tales worth it? They'll help me better portray my character by letting me respond instead of trying to speed type these stories as I go.

I had a feeling some of the people I interacted were kinda jarred because of the speed that the canned tales were spit out and they just wouldn't read it.

Anyone ever try anything this stupid before? Advice? Suggestions? Comments? Answers?

Well, personally I feel scripting it is a bad idea, because after a while, people will catch on and wonder why you tell the story the exact way every time. If you want to come up with a few stories, just type them out and save them in advance. Go back and referance it if need be, while telling the story. Just make sure you change a few minor details along the way.

You could also make him a nutjob that talks to, and argues with himself. That'd be entertaining to watch, and play with.

Well I had written up like 10 of em but in the two days I only used two. Unless people pop around from character to character often, I won't be using the same one in front of the same people.

I'm trying to saaaaave my fingers from typing here!

He's nutty enough without having to jabber with himself.
