Any protection from avalanches?

Anyone know if there is a way to protect from avalanches? Other than the obvious getting out of the way. Can CM reduce how much damage you take? Dodge? Survival? Or is it all just completely random?

The more silvers you carry, the more likely Koar is to give you a blessing and you'll dodge the avalanche. Need at least 10k on you.
