View Full Version : What is required to train off the 8 second RT on a Claidhmore?

I'm currently using a mithril maul and thinking of upgrading to a 4x Claid at 10. I should have a +28 AGIDEX bonus at 10 (85AGI 85DEX). Currently it's enough to drop off 2 seconds of RT on the maul taking me down to 5sec RT. Since Claids have a base 8sec RT, what would be required to drop this down to 5 sec (+38 total bonus to AGIDEX only?). Is it even a good idea to use one at 10 or stick with a maul for now?

Regards,
Bajheera

Upgrading to a 4x claid at level 10 huh? You must be pretty rich. What are they going for now? 60-80m?

No idea of how your raw stats correspond to the stat bonuses without having your race, a simple stats pull should show us.

But pretty much everything is situational. If it's 0x claid versus +5 maul, yes... claid will be better.

Only 38 combined agi/dex is needed to drop to 5 second with a Claidhmore.

If you have a 4x claidhmore there is really no reason not to use it. You have the best enchant you can at level 10 and nothing in that level range disarms, so you have a low chance of losing it.

Wow! I didn't think they would be that expensive! I figured 4x was pretty common. I only have about 100k to spend on a new weapon. What would you suggest as an upgrade to a +5 maul for 100k?

I'm a Giantman btw.

You should troll the auctions and try to get yourself a 4x maul or 4x mattock.
Occasionally you can find a decent deal in the player shops.

There is a bid on a mattock I believe here at only 35k:

4x would be pricey and hard to come by. I just sold my 3x claid for 25m.

Yeah Claidhmores are different because they are naturally crit weighted, which makes them not being able to be enchanted by normal means, and the treasure generator don't make them as often.

With that said being a Giant and being a warrior, for claidhs you'll never need more then a mithril(the can hit magical creatures, if the creature isn't magical a normal claidh is ok). They can't hit undead, your AS will be lower then most other weapons but with the crit weighting on Claidhs it hardly matters if you can hit things the crit weighting makes the hits much harder then normal.

I thought I read on Krakiipedia that claids cannot hit undead creatures? The page on claids said, "claidhmores cannot be blessed for attacks against undead creatures"

Sorry typo, yeah they can't hit undead unless your a paladin and bond it, or a paladin/cleric and get a sancted claidh.

Ok, thanks for the info! Lots of game mechanics to learn in the land of Elanthia!

Or unless you came across a permablessed claid. There was one but I think it is lost forever. So yeah...
