View Full Version : Mana for CoL?

I'm a new warrior (having played back in the late 90s) and remember having mana on my warrior and being in CoL. Is this still a good society for a Warrior? I remember liking the AS and DS signs. I was doing some research and noticed the first few signs require mana. I have 0 mana at level 7, which is probably due to my low AUR and WIS stats. Should I adjust these stats to give myself some mana or is that a waste?

You would be better served to probably just get some harness power if you want to stay CoL. GoS is better for warriors in my opinion, but CoL is still a good society just more tailored to casters due to the power of wracking.

Harness Power makes sense. I just skipped over the spell/mana abilities in my skill goals thinking I wouldn't need them so I didn't know about that till just now! GoS seems interesting. I'll have to look into it. Thanks for the info!

GoS also takes mana, along with the stamina you'll already have as a warrior.... so training in Harness Power is going to be necessary, no matter what.

I find that with my relatively slow hunting paced Warrior, 15 mana is a good sweet spot. I only use the AS/DS signs. I've gotten a bit better in recent months though, and I could probably get by on 10 for that same purpose. If I wanted to use the other important signs, I'd need more I think.
Now, that said, I think GoS is MORE mana intensive, because of Bane and Protection only lasting 1 minute. Sigil of Offense and Sigil of Defense are also a bit more mana intensive to run. The upside is that you don't run out of spirit and halfway ruin the rest of your hunt. Downside is that precious stamina is being sapped by sigils in addition to your cmans.

Thanks for the info! I'll probably go with CoL for now. I can stack all the AS/DS to get +35/+35 correct?
I noticed GoS also adds weighting and padding. How much of a benefit are these?

GoS is pretty nice for a warrior, don't be intimidated.
Weighting and Padding always help. This is one of the logs from a warrior that posted logs prolificly on the PC. If you do a search for Grimswarm with author "Khariz" you can check out a lot more. He made warcamps look easy.

Pretty sure this was cap. I had some fun with CMAN Berserk on my warrior around level 15 and a claidhmore. I pumped up his MoC as much as I could and get wizard spells. It was very fun and effective. By then I should have started working on it as a guild skill but I gave up on him to try something else.

I just hit 10. When is a good time to join GoS?

You can join any society at 3, most suggest you do GoS as earlier as possible just to make it as easy as can be to master.
