So I added an extra slot to my account just to mess with monks. Got one to 8 but didn't really get to test things out that I wanted.
I just deleted him and re-added my 15 warrior. Elven because I was going for twc/moc.
Sort of same plan that I was going to do on the monk.
Was wondering which one you would think would be more fitted for the task?
Would like the MoC/swing handaxes in a reasonable amount of time.
I think the warrior was made before July so could convert.
Thanks for any responses.

Well, I don't have much experience with monks, but I would assume that a MOC character would spend a lot of time in offensive in RT, and warriors are in heavier armor and with less Redux spell penalty than even the best trained Iron Skin Monk, so they would theoretically tank better.
There are also guild skills to add additional benefit independent from skills, while Monks are very tight on TPs from what I've seen.
Its a shame the conversion period is so short, because I think Monks will go through some growing pains while they get adjusted. Not to mention, unlike other squares, they are expected to train significantly in a spell list, one that is incomplete.

I have been wondering this as well. I have had several discussions and the closest thing I can compare it to is the robe wearing rogues. Except with enough training you would get MBP damage reduction with a higher CVA.
I really wanted to convert a way post cap to a monk just to see what its like. Basically get some HCP armor, be in GoS, 3x dodge and get a rogue to put armor evasion on you. It could be quite effective at tanking.

I considered converting my rogue for about an hour. It is like a robe wearing rogue except also stuck in the open while robe rogues use stealth.
What killed the idea for me was 1) stuck in the open with crappy TD/CvA 2) loss of AS in the form of 425 3) UAC might just be a better combat style when utilized from hiding rather than JAB spamming and hoping for tier ups.
Monk v Warrior is probably based on whether you've got snazzy plate/weapon you want to bond to.

In Deadliest Warrior the Shaolin Monk beat the Maori Warrior. There were a lot of comments about technical stuff and trolling and debating and kissing, but the video/episode was truth because it had more funding.
This should pretty much cover any and all GemStone-related questions for the next yoctosecond.

A monk in robes will have a ridiculously high offensive DS. Coupled with evasion mastery and duck and weave (lasts 30 seconds, but is awesome in a swarm) and you can outright avoid a ton of damage. You'll still have pretty decent redux (better than rogue, worse than warrior) and decent armor. TD/CvA is going to be the downfall of many a monk. Slippery mind can only save you so many times before you get gibbed. For MoC monks also get Burst of Swiftness and Perfect Self which add a pretty substantial amount of agidex (34, total) which brings down the MoC time.

It's pretty much cutting hairs I guess..
Warrior in plate is a nice feeling.. but I do sort of like monk cmans more then warriors. Haven't tested either but ^ duck/weave and mongoose seem awesome.
And that was one of the other reasons why I thought MoC on a monk would be better is just because they can have Perfect Self and Burst.
But if I did convert you do'nt change race right? Which would sort of be beside the point of making an Elven monk. Since you could already gain the needed Dex/agi bonus with the cmans.
(Typing fast at work, may sound like gibberish)

Ehh, there is a lot to be had from Perfect Self. Faster absorption, Spirit gains, CS and TD increases, even DS. To say nothing of AS and weight capacity. Stats do a lot of little things, and an across the board +10 counts for a lot.

5 ranks in Perfect Self is a must in my opinion for all monks.

I don't really havge the greatest gear, just 4x flaring handaxes. think it be better suited for the monk?
and does anyone already go this path that can chime in on how effective it is?
