FF6 rocked, but they kind of tied up all the loose ends when the game was over. Magic disappeared after you finished the game, so there's really not much of a movie you could make from it. The empire was crushed, the 'bad guys' are all dead, etc.

Update:It has already been released in Japan (at the end of 2004) with a US release to follow shortly after (first quarter of 2005). No word on a European or Australian release has been made as yet. Which means I am kind of screwed at the moment, but hey, I can import.
The movie will run for somewhere between 70 and 80 minutes and will be released on DVD and UMD (for the Sony PSP, excellent)and is being developed by Square-Enix (duh) in conjunction with Visual Works (Pimpin).

I remember beating it... I remember everyone crawling out of some hole in the end.. but for the life of me I can't remember a meteor ever hitting during the game.

It doesn't. If you recall, Sephiroth summons the black materia, IE, a fucking massive metoer. However it never hits. BUT, one had hit previously along time ago I believe. Hence the immense crater in the north.

The end clip is you escaping the crater on the highwind. All around the planet the life essence comes forth from various fissures, craters, plants, trees etc
