Good thing this was a Canadian golden eagle and not an American bald eagle - that kid would have been dinner for some all-american eagle chicks.

We need to regulate these predatory birds.

No one is safe!

If it was a Philadelphia Eagle, it would have fumbled the toddler near the end zone.

Or started the celebrating dance at the 1 yard line....

You think a squirrel hat would look so cute on Timmy ... Until you realize that the eagle does, too.

Fucking war griffins.

Kid only lived because of his HCP red knit-beanie.

Heh, definitely not something you see every day.

It clearly could not lift the toddler off the ground.

I'm glad that the toddler seems unhurt (talons did not dig into skin, just the clothing?).

The thing that shocked me the most is the cameraman managed to stop filming for three seconds and ran over to help.

Yeah, that was surprising.

Yeah, the things people will do in a hoax video are always surprising.

It's how the pedo's of the future are snatching kids.

No more vans - they're using eagles..

They'll be convicted of unlicensed falconry. For the record, falconry is many years of commitment to do legally. I looked into it, because I wanted a Harris Hawk, but man it is fucking ridiculous. You could master fucking carpentry in the time it takes to be allowed to own more than one bird. (I believe it is 3 years of apprenticeship for 1 bird, and 7 years for more than 1, to a max of 3. Last time I checked, that is what the internet said, anyway.)

Something would tell me that people who would try and snatch kids wouldnt be worried about unlicensed falconry...

but otherwise, that does seem a bit strange for the legal requirements - I can see some though.

Best to ban eagles anyway, cause after seeing this they'll probably start doing it for real.

I knew it was suspicious that they put the camera down and ran over to help! I should have known if it was real they would have just said:

"Oh shit! Did you see that? Whoa!"
laughter
"Yeah man, that was crazy! You're getting all of this on camera, right?"
laughter
"Oh hell yeah!"

I feel like falconry is like, one of the most badass "lost arts" known to man. It probably takes absurd amounts of committment, consistancy and devotion (not to mention skill and patience) for virtually no other payoff than utter badassness. Honestly, those year requirements sound absurd, but if anything it might dissuade upstarts from getting into it, then giving up, leaving horribly half-trained hawks probably flying around fucking with people.

I bet he wouldn't have stopped filming if it was a train that flew in and snagged the kid.

I've been cutting myself daily ever since I found out. On my balls.
