It is funny, but I wouldn't neg rep you for it. A text gold ring just went for as much in silvers. You aren't doing anything that isn't being done by plenty of others.

You should mock them for their math skills.

I guess one who needs to ask probably will never own it, but still curious about 2 things:
1) whats a blink axe?
2) where did you "find" it? In your locker? Or in the treasure hopper?

If you infuse a spell, does it stay in permanently and continue to flare, or is it "one flare", then infuse again?
Stays in Pernamently, well untill you put another spell in it.. Higher lvl the spell the less frequent the flare.

That sounds soooo broken. And Boil Earth and Spike Thorn? Damn.
Bet it would be amazing with Boneshatter, if the lower level made flares more common.

one flare infuse again is the inbue spell and its lame.... also spells such as sleep level 1 spells or 1101 flare every swing...
Also, unforunatly bard songs dont activate... you can infuse them but when they flare nothing happens.

Pssh, Bards have sonic weapons of broken 7x double flare, disarm-proof doom for free.
Pssh I say, pssssssh.
They don't need it.
Dual weild ohe's with 1030 and tonis would be much too powerful.

You can, however, dual wield OHEs and use 635 (Nature's Fury). Just ask Drew!

For those curious, flare rate is approximately equal to 1/(lvl of spell imbedded) In other words, blink weapons are great for a haste warmage that imbeds 901 which will flare every time.

They are better for a haste warmage that imbeds sleep.

One notable note concerning blink weapons, at least 2 CS spells for wizards (and who knows for who else) flare without a roll (ex: boil earth is a CS spell but when imbued in a blink weapon just activate without a roll).

What? I'm pretty sure Boil Earth isn't CS based . . . unless I'm going crazy. Whats the other?

I"m not the wizard but I did participate in testing...I cannot recall as it's been over a year but we found that 2 CS spells if you were a wizard would flare (and strike) with no roll.
BriarFox

I expect the roll is just hidden.
rolfard
12-18-2012, 03:38 PM
Plausible but for the other CS spells who's rolls are *not* hidden. Why 2 spells? Why those 2 spells? Why no visible roll when cast normally they have a roll? These questions and more will go unanswered by me! don't tune in!
PS: have a wizard imbed the spell and swing at someone they have no chance of warding and see if the flare works (once the two spells are determined)

I wish I knew the spells, that may have something to do with it.

I would try immolate and ice patch to start (if not boil earth)

Immolation: Note that while no roll is visible, it still mentions warding failing.
Your black mithglin mace suddenly lights up with hundreds of tiny blue sparks!
Warding failed!
Wisps of black smoke swirl around a dybbuk and it bursts into flame!
... 70 points of damage!
Left arm incinerated. Unfortunate.
The dybbuk is stunned!
... 85 points of damage!
Neck completely incinerated; a dybbuk's head drops to the ground and rolls to your feet!
You hear a sound like a weeping child as a white glow separates itself from the dybbuk's body as it rises, disappearing into the heavens.
The dybbuk falls to the ground motionless.

I did extensive testing when I owned that axe...the roll is indeed hidden and the other spell is stone fist...on a side note and a free plug for how awesome this weapon is.....CONE OF SLEEP!
You concentrate intently, focusing all your energies.
With instinctive motions, you weave to and fro striking with deliberate and unrelenting fury!
You swing a mithglin battle axe at a dwarven marauder!
AS: +419 vs DS: +354 with AvD: +38 + d100 roll: +50 = +153
... and hit for 30 points of damage!
Blade slashes across the dwarven marauder's face!
Nice nose job.
The dwarven marauder is stunned!
Your mithglin battle axe suddenly lights up with hundreds of tiny blue sparks!
CS: +548 - TD: +418 + CvA: -2 + d100: +34 == +162
Warding failed!
A dwarven marauder's eyes roll up into his head as his body goes limp on the ground.
You swing a mithglin battle axe at a giantman highwayman!
AS: +419 vs DS: +309 with AvD: +50 + d100 roll: +24 = +184
... and hit for 26 points of damage!
Weak slash to the giantman highwayman's lower back!
Your mithglin battle axe suddenly lights up with hundreds of tiny blue sparks!
CS: +548 - TD: +405 + CvA: -10 + d100: +39 == +172
Warding failed!
A giantman highwayman's eyes roll up into her head as her body goes limp on the ground.
You swing a mithglin battle axe at a human marauder!
AS: +419 vs DS: +331 with AvD: +50 + d100 roll: +1 = +139
... and hit for 16 points of damage!
Slash to the human marauder's left leg hits high!
Kinda makes your knees weak, huh?
Your mithglin battle axe suddenly lights up with hundreds of tiny blue sparks!
CS: +548 - TD: +444 + CvA: -10 + d100: +55 == +149
Warding failed!
A human marauder's eyes roll up into his head as his body goes limp on the ground.
Your flurry of strikes leaves you off-balance and out of position.
Roundtime: 10 sec.
Roundtime changed to 3 seconds.
You notice that things have returned to their normal speed.

Heh yeah a wizard with a ton of moc to mstrike and enough cm to hit anything at cap is super rare. Similarly could just rapid fire 901 and kill everything in the room like a machine gun.

Yeah, but by that logic, you could just Immolate everything and that would be better than the blink axe too. The "cool" factor of using a blink weapon counts for a lot, and it looks like a lot of fun.

i thought i read somewhere that blink weapons actually increase the CS of spells above what you would normally have. Is that true?
