Hi,

I am looking to learn some rare runes. I am a bit unsure about how this works. As I understand: if a merchant comes and teaches a player a rare demonology rune for example, the player then can make that rune forever. He can also teach (50?) people the rune as well. Those people who learn this rare rune can also make it forever? Is this correct? Am I missing something?

Also, looking to learn some demonology runes if anyone is able to teach. Can even pay if necessary.

Thank you!

I'm not sure but I think the GM that teaches the uncommon rune determines how many teaches a player character can then give out. I don't think there's a set number. Once a player uses up all their teaches they can still make runestones for anyone to use they just can't teach it again.

Last I heard, it was based on valence. Lorae-tyr = 1, and I believe shien-tyr = 2, grik-tyr = 3.

The last raffle was to learn it yourself with no ability to teach others. The two prior to that were as Subzero said. At this point I wouldn't count on ever learning uncommon runes and just be pleasantly surprised if a GM comes around and even more surprised if you happen to win.

Hi,

I am looking to learn some rare runes.

I lol'd.

Oh, also, there are currently 0 active players with Igaesha runes. Simu should really do something about this. The idea of losing abilities as a community really speaks poorly of sorcerers and the rune system =(

Go post this exact same thread on the officials, if you haven't already. It may get ignored there, but it has a better chance of being seen by someone who can do something about it then here.

I don't believe that's true

edit: I'll check my collection of recently drawn runes tonight, but I'm pretty sure Igaesha was in there

We can't have everyone running around with RP tools, now, can we?

Its been covered a bit already, but the general gist is somewhat correct. A GM will teach a rune, usually of the player's choice, to the player. Depending on the circumstances, the rune chosen, and the GM's discretion, this rune can be taught somewhere between 0 and 3 times (though I think I recall 5-teach runes a few years back). Those who are taught get 0 teachings. I have certainly never heard of a 50-teach rune.

There are likely a few "teachings" floating around, but they are a valuable asset, so if you want to pay, it may not be cheap. Furthermore, I've known quite a few sorcerers who wouldn't dream of selling a Rune teaching, prefering to save it give it to a Sorcerer who earned it through RP or for friends.

The other important thing to remember is that there IS actually a limit on the uncommon runes you can know, which is 5. I think this is a terrible concept, but at the same time, only a few Sorcerers have ever reached 5 anyway. But make sure that if you learn one, its one you would want to keep in the rare chance you found yourself with an opportunity to learn a 6th rune. If that were the case, you would have to use wyzio to forget it, and that erases a rune-teaching from existance, and that is such a terrible shame.

That's not true. I won one of those runes and it had two teachings associated with it. Unfortunately, depending on the rune, the number of teachings changes. I wanted, for sure, a lorae'tyr-verlok rune, but there were no teachings associated with it. By contrast, the one I did choose had two (and I taught them).
