Haven't played much lately. Got the DLC, did enough to become a vampire and play around with that a little, and that was about it. I think the only mod I've used so far is one to make the ore veins glow a bit more so you can actually see them at night.

... what is the advantage to having it on PS3 that makes you say "almost"?

SPOILER ALERT:

I think I downloaded the Dragonborn DLC yesterday on my 360 but I was also busy trying to finish up ME3 with the new Omega mod.

I haven't played it yet. Don't post any spoilers. And if you do, well, I can't really do anything about it /whiteflag

What?

Only reason I can think of would be a shitty PC.

Sounds of Skyrim

Be careful with that. I had it as well, but it's since been taken down. The creator said that some versions of the mod could lead to bloat in the game saves. It makes me sad. The mod is unbelievable.

Personally, I use the following.

ApachiiHair
Skyrim HD - 2K Textures
Portal 2 mod - only available on Steam
Barenziah Stones quest markers and droppable stones
House map markers by Smakit
Lightweight potions and poisons
Realistic lighting with customization
Better dynamic snow
The dance of death
Better females by Bella
Dimonized UNP female body
Glowing ore veins
SkyUI (along with SKSE)

I'm also seriously looking at the Vilja companion mod. I used it in Oblivion and loved it. It has an incredible depth and utility. I'm just waiting on a few more updates, particularly when Dragonborn shows up on the PC. Since that DLC involves Solstheim (I assume, given it was mentioned in the trailer) and since Vilja is said to come from there, I'd bet the mod creator will tie it in somehow.

I have Skyrim on my 360 and the PC. I got it on 360 just because I'm too impatient to wait a month for official DLCs and on PC because of all the mods, you can basically make it a different game if you so want. Just got Dragonborn last night, hope it is awesome.

I don't do any gaming on my computer anymore. Any games I get the time to play is on the PS3. After spending all day at work on the computer, I no longer have the patience to sit behind one when I get home. But I envy the mods a little. :)

....well not to get technical, but the PS3 is a computer, and the TV is a monitor. I don't see the difference. You can easily setup your PC to use a PS3 controller- that's how I do it. Hell, you can even hook your PC up to your TV if you wish- that's also what I did for skyrim.

Looking at the Tech specs for a PS3 it looks like a (crappy)computer to me! I get what you mean though, however, nowadays most Video cards have HDMI outs so you can hook it up to your HDTV... And you can plug in XBox and PS3 controllers via USB.

Video games are almost ALWAYS way better on computer(unless it is a port) due to way better graphics and modability. Not to mention they can be about $10 cheaper at times. (AC3 is $60 on console, $50 on computer) Steam also has sweet sales all the time.

I will admit though, some games I prefer on a regular console and it would be a little odd on a computer. Madden and NCAA Football come to mind.

For myself as well. PC is in my office/man-cave. PS3 is in the bedroom where it serves as a great multi-media center between standard gaming stuffs, and Netflix/Hulu+. I routed the wall-rated HDMI cables inside the studs up to the back of the TV when I mounted it to keep things clean and hidden. Setting up a tower on the desk below the TV would be ugly as sin.

Skyrim on the PC with mods is absolutely beautiful. I've been playing it again recently but just uninstalled it about 2 hours ago. I looked at my hard drive and noticed my hard drive space was dropping at an alarming rate, until there was only 800mb left. I thought the game was glitching up or something but it turns out I accidentally turned on fraps movie maker and was making video after video :/

I ripped the game off torrent. I'm almost afraid to mod. I've been looking into grabbing the DLC but honestly, I don't really know how to go through the mod process. I don't really want to lose my guy but I suppose it doesn't really matter if everything I add is gamebreaking on the funscale.

Advice?

I decided to go with SkyRe for my major overhaul mod and am going to stop there on that front. It gets WAAAY too confusing to mess with more than one of those at a time.

Anyone else using a rebalancer?

What do those do? I'm getting a kick out of the cold and wet mod. In fact a lot of mods are incredibly well done and fix or include things that should have been included from the get go. Bethesda really needs to up their game. Only wish I had a more current card as I'm only getting between 30 to 40 fps.

Overhaul all skill trees, magic, rebalances AI and pretty much all armor/weapons, nerf stealth. Basically, they make the game much, much harder.

Realistic Needs and Diseases is another good mod if you like Wet and Cold. So is Frostbitten. All are fully customizable, so you can make them as demanding or lax as you like. It basically gives food/drink/sleeping a point along with common sense cold mechanics.

I find it amazing that you can have 107 mods with little to no conflicts. More of a testament to the makers and the game's flexibility i guess. Bethesda may not have upped their game per se enough to satisfy everyone, but at least they've allowed others the tools and freedom to do so. I do give them kudos for that with their elder scrolls games. I have only about 20 mods at the moment, so I feel like i'm kinda slacking, heh.

I do have one small issue where some female npcs will stand immobile, hands raised at their sides. Bethesda definitely deserves kudos for their modding support. I am really, REALLY disappointed that Dice/EA has not and most likely will not release modding tools for BF3. It irks me even more when their reason is that it would be too difficult to work with, when you know the real reason is they don't want people to take away from their DLC sales.

Are you running Boss? That will help identify and avoid a lot of errors right off the bat. Just search for BOSS on the Skyrim nexus. It is a fairly straightforward program.

I tried uninstalling Pure Water, which is a different version of W.A.T.E.R, and my game would CTD right after the Bethesda intro. Didn't matter what I tried, just straight CTD, so I ended up reinstalling the mod. If you recently deleted a mod, try reinstalling it and see if that helps.

Figured i'd finally kick out a list of mods i've been using. I may pick up a few more here and there but until Dawnguard hits i'm fairly happy with what I have. If anyone sees any mods I should pick up that aren't on the list do let me know.

Treebalance - Speech Tree - Adds a bit more "umph" to the speech tree perks.
Cloaks of Skyrim - Popular mod that adds cloaks. Ties into survival mods as well.
Camping Kit of the Northern Ranger - Can set up camp. Ties into survival mods.
Interesting NPCs - HUUUUUUGE mod that adds 100's of fully voiced NPCs and quests. Amazing, really. Highly recommended.

The Dance of Death - A Killmove Mod
Wet and Cold - Very cool. Has ties to Survival mods.

Quests -

Moonpath to Elsweyr - Came highly recommended.
Mapseller - Tied into one of the map mods I got. Didn't see the harm in it.

Glowing Ore Veins - Great mod.
Unread Books Glow - Great mod
Follower Trap Safety - Stops followers from setting off traps as they cannot avoid them otherwise.
Acquisitive Soul Gems - Makes sure the right size souls go into the right size soul gems.

General Improvement/Immersion -

Project Reality - Climates Of Tamriel - Weather - Lighting - It makes it rain and snow ALL the time. Still worth it, though.
Lightning during Thunder Storms - Ties into Project Reality.
Fantasy Music Overhaul - Some songs are better than others, but definitely worthwhile if you've been playing for ages.
Player Headtracking - Purely for immersion.
Footprints - Adds footprints when walking in the snow. Amazing mod.
ScenicCarriages - When you take carriages you don't fast travel, they just drive you there. Haven't used it yet.
Guard Dialogue Overhaul - Adds more dialogue to NPC guards so they don't say the same shit over and over.
skyBirds - Airborne Perching Birds - Adds birds high overhead.
Birds and Flocks - Adds more birds in general.
Lore-Based Loading Screens - Self explanatory.

Player Homes -

Hunters Cabin of Riverwood - Very pretty, completely normal home outside of Riverwood.
Breezehome FullyUpgradable - AWESOME mod that is completely balanced. Adds a basement to your breezewood home. All upgrades must be purchased through the normal NPC.

Looks like we're running a lot of the same mods, Fallen. I'm going to have to take a look at some of the ones I don't have. I've recently added in Realistic Needs and Diseases, along with Frostfall and Warzones. Between those and choosing not to use fast travel, the game is completely different from when I was first playing. Where I was just zipping around doing quests with no thought of cold, sleep, or food, now the world is so much more real, and there is an actual civil war going on with people trying to kill each other.

Thought I might point out that there's another lighting overhaul mod that's been recently released. Realistic Lighting Overhaul (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/30450/) is a continuation of Realistic Lighting with Customization, and it looks amazing. Works within the script engine for as little performance issues as possible, and it claims to be completely compatible with Climates of Tamriel.

I thought about getting that mod but I prefer to work through the nexus. Do you kow why it was kicked off? I had to give up a few mods myself. Economies of Skyrim ruined Whiterun's Warmaiden crafting stuff and a few other places. I'd avoid that one. As for fast travel, i'll use it when I get annoyed at travelling through certain areas but I typically try to travel overland to where i'm going. Deadly dragons is another tough one. I need to tweak it a bit more. The "Expert" setting is VERY hard. Basically impossible unless I can rope in a nearby town. Vanilla is too easy.

I'm not sure why it was removed, it could be for a number of reasons though. When I downloaded it I got it from Nexus and I haven't had any problems with it. I'm constantly seeing new monsters and some of them are just badass. I'm really glad for these mods because Bethesda did such a sloppy and half-assed job with the game.

Looks neat, but convenient horses allows for your followers to use horses fairly well. I also find I need to fast travel because certain areas simply cause my game to crash. Price you pay for so many mods, i'm afraid. I'd like to do more modding, but at this point i'd need to learn Bain, Wyre, and how to make Bash scripts to keep everything running smoothly, and it just isn't worth the effort.

Ran into an area that caused a CTD lately myself that I thought I'd mention since you listed that you're running the mod that was causing it. Just north of Falkreath, on the south side of the lake, is a cell that I could never enter. Always crashed whenever I tried to go in. The cell included the site of the Falkreath property included in Hearthfire, along with a couple other non-essential locations. Turns out my ScenicCarriages mod was conflicting with Hearthfire, and causing the crash. After a manual install of an updated esp file, I'm not having any issues.
